HARTNELL COLLEGE FEES<br />

Out-<strong>of</strong>-State Tuition Assistance Request<br />

Out-<strong>of</strong>-State Students looking for assistance in paying their out-<strong>of</strong>-state tuition and enrollment fees may be able to request a Delay <strong>of</strong> Payment.<br />

(The Delay <strong>of</strong> Payment request is NOT available to International Students on an F1 Visa.)In order for a student to request a delay <strong>of</strong> payment he/she<br />

must meet the following criteria:<br />

1. All Out-<strong>of</strong>-State Students must submit a FAFSA for the 2012-<br />

<strong>2013</strong> year by April 3, <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

2. Student submits the Petition for Delay <strong>of</strong> Payment <strong>of</strong><br />

Enrollment/Tuition Fees form to the Financial Aid Department by<br />

April 12, <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

3. Any and all documents that are requested from the Financial Aid<br />

Office must be submitted no later than April 30, <strong>2013</strong> to ensure<br />

that there is sufficient time to process the student’s financial aid<br />

file.<br />

4. Upon review <strong>of</strong> the student’s financial aid file, the financial aid<br />

staff will determine the amount <strong>of</strong> the award the student is<br />

eligible for and record it on the Petition for Delay <strong>of</strong> Payment <strong>of</strong><br />

Enrollment/Tuition Fees form Request form; or if not eligible for<br />

financial aid, it will be noted on the request form also by April 30,<br />

<strong>2013</strong>..<br />

5. The Financial Aid Department will then update the student’s<br />

account to reflect the authorization <strong>of</strong> this request.<br />

6. The student will be notified by phone and/or email the status <strong>of</strong><br />

their eligibility by May 16, <strong>2013</strong>. It is the student’s responsibility<br />

to follow-up with the financial aid <strong>of</strong>fice regarding the status <strong>of</strong><br />

their request.<br />

7. It is the student’s responsibility to pay the following:<br />

a. If PELL eligible, the student’s financial aid award will be<br />

applied to their balance. The student must pay any remaining<br />

balance by July 8, <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

b. If the student is not eligible for financial aid, the student must<br />

pay half <strong>of</strong> their outstanding balance by May 16, <strong>2013</strong>; and the<br />

remaining balance by July 8, <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

To obtain a “Petition for Delay <strong>of</strong> Payment <strong>of</strong> Enrollment/Tuition Fees<br />

for Out <strong>of</strong> State Student” pick up a form at the Financial Aid Office.<br />

NOTE: Petitions for Delay <strong>of</strong> Payment forms must be submitted each<br />

semester in which you wish to request assistance by the established<br />

deadline. To maintain continued eligibility, you must fulfill your<br />

previous semester’s obligation to pay your full balance by the date<br />

specified on your last Petition for Delay <strong>of</strong> Payment form.<br />

Student Enrollment Fees Refund Information<br />

For all Enrollment and Non-Resident Tuition Refunds a reversal <strong>of</strong> enrollment or tuition shall be made in accordance with the schedule listed below for reduction in<br />

program or withdrawal from class(es). Note, that class(es) must be dropped by the end <strong>of</strong> the 2 nd week for full semester <strong>classes</strong>.<br />

Full Semester Classes (16-to 18-week Classes)<br />

• A 100% refund is given upon withdrawal during the first two weeks <strong>of</strong><br />

the semester.<br />

• No refund or credit is given after withdrawal beyond the second week <strong>of</strong><br />

the semester, even if registration occurred after the 1 st week <strong>of</strong> school.<br />

<strong>Summer</strong> and Short-Term Classes<br />

The refund/reversal for short-term <strong>classes</strong> is based on the length <strong>of</strong> the class<br />

and the number <strong>of</strong> days per week the class meets.<br />

• A 100% refund is given upon withdrawal by the 10% point.<br />

• No refund is given after the 10% point.<br />

Note: Classes meeting fewer weeks or fewer days per week will have shorter<br />

withdrawal periods based on their 10% point.<br />

Financial Aid Enrollment Fee Refunds<br />

If subsequent to paying enrollment fees, a student becomes eligible for<br />

financial aid and receives an enrollment fee waiver (BOGFW), the student<br />

should contact the Cashier’s Office.<br />

Non-Resident/Foreign Tuition<br />

The refund process shall be initiated upon receipt <strong>of</strong> an Enrollment Fee<br />

Refund Request form to be submitted by the 4th week <strong>of</strong> <strong>classes</strong> to the<br />

Cashier’s Office. Class(es) must be dropped before requesting a refund. If no<br />

Enrollment Fee Refund Request form is submitted, credit balances may be<br />

applied or carried forward to future semesters.<br />
