Omar Ismail
HND Hospitality Management
My goal three years ago before starting my course was to work in
a leading hotel in Scotland and progress myself in the field of
hospitality and make my father proud. Sadly, my father passed
away in my second year of studying here, so having reached
graduation and receiving The James Thomson Award means a lot
to me.
I would never have been able to have made such an achievement
without the support I got from my Telford tutors who supported
me and helped me to get my job at the Balmoral Hotel. I thank
them for the encouragement they gave me and their efforts at
making me believe I could succeed.
I would one hundred per cent recommend Telford to other
international students. My favourite memory of my time at
Telford would be when my friends and I would sit in the Hub of
the College on our breaks talking about our countries’ food and
culture. In my first year we had students from Scotland, India,
Poland, Nepal, England, Italy, the Philippines and me from
Bangladesh!
After finishing my course I can say now that the College and the
tutors have done their job and now it is my turn to make the
College proud! I know that if my father was alive today he would
be so proud of me.
