Therapy HE<br />
What will I study?<br />
This is a two year full-time course<br />
covering the following mandatory<br />
units: anatomy and physiology of<br />
the human body, facial therapy,<br />
body massage, face and body<br />
electro therapy, depilation, hand and<br />
foot therapy, principles and practices<br />
of selling, employment experience<br />
1, employment experience 2,<br />
contemporary electrotherapy,<br />
product knowledge, lifestyle advice<br />
for clients, beauty therapy graded<br />
unit 1, beauty therapy graded unit 2,<br />
management and practice of facial<br />
therapies, management and practice<br />
of body therapies, electro-cosmetic<br />
therapy, preparing and presenting a<br />
business plan. You will also choose<br />
the following optional units to make<br />
up the 30 credits: aromatherapy,<br />
make-up, remedial massage,<br />
electrical epilation, reflexology,<br />
Indian head massage, contemporary<br />
aesthetic treatments, or language.<br />
How will I be assessed?<br />
A wide variety of assessment<br />
methods are used throughout this<br />
course to reflect the diversity of the<br />
subject matter you will be working<br />
on – everything from work<br />
experience on real clients, case<br />
study work relating to the<br />
treatments offered, oral<br />
presentations in selling skills. This<br />
gives a little snapshot of the<br />
diversity of assessment methods<br />
you will encounter.<br />
Will there be work experience?<br />
You will work within the<br />
department's Commercial Salon in<br />
the <strong>College</strong>, one evening per week.<br />
In addition, you will have work<br />
experience within a beauty salon.<br />
What are the entry requirements?<br />
You will require English language<br />
skills to IELTS level 5.5. and also the<br />
equivalent of Higher Biology and<br />
one other Higher in a science.<br />
Can I go on to further study?<br />
(<strong>Telford</strong>, other colleges and<br />
university)<br />
You may continue your studies to<br />
Degree level in Complementary<br />
Therapies or Business Studies.<br />
Where can this course lead me<br />
when I finish study?<br />
On successful completion, you<br />
may find employment as a beauty<br />
therapist, manager of a spa or<br />
beauty salon or start your own<br />
business.<br />
