Saving or Restoring Memory Data Using a USB Device<br />

The MX51x is equipped with two sealed USB connectors, one in front and one in the back<br />

of the unit. They can be used to conveniently save or restore navigation data such as<br />

waypoints, routes, plot tracks and configuration settings using a USB memory stick.<br />

It is important that the USB stick be formatted first to Windows FAT 32 before using it<br />

with the MX51x. The USB formatting procedure is available in the <strong>Installation</strong> section of<br />

this manual.<br />

To store memory data in the USB device, do the following:<br />

1 Insert the USB device in the MX51x.<br />

2 Press the CFG key.<br />

3 Scroll down to USB menu.<br />

4 Press the EDIT key.<br />

5 The Change softkey is highlighted at this point, press ENT key.<br />

Wait for the MX51x to recognize the USB device before proceeding. It will indicate<br />

the device type, status and memory space available when it is done checking the<br />

USB device.<br />

7 Highlight “Data type” then press ENT to change to Waypoints, Routes, Plot, Config<br />

or All. Using “All” will save everything.<br />

8 Highlight Save to USB softkey then press ENT. It will take a few seconds to save<br />

the data. The MX51x will tell you when the process has been completed.<br />

Press the ENT to continue.<br />

Before removing the USB, set the USB connected to NO. This is important to<br />

prevent causing damage to the USB device or the data in it.<br />

To restore memory data from the USB device to the MX51x, do the following:<br />

Insert the USB device in the MX51x.<br />

2 Press the CFG key.<br />

Scroll down to USB menu.<br />

4 Press the EDIT key.<br />
