Evaluation Checklist<br />
Objective:<br />
Ventilate a structure using mechanical positive-pressure ventilation.<br />
1. Confirm order with officer to ventilate structure.<br />
<strong>Task</strong> Steps 1 st 2nd<br />
2. Place fan near entrance opening so that it will create a positive pressure<br />
within the structure.<br />
3. Start the fan and temporarily direct away from opening.<br />
4. Create exit opening approximately equal to or smaller than the “point of<br />
entry."<br />
5. Direct fan into point of entry so that cone of air covers opening.<br />
6. Determine if smoke is moving away from point of entry and toward exit<br />
opening. If not, discontinue fan and re-evaluate location of point of entry<br />
and exit and any obstructions of the flow of air.<br />
7. Clear smoke from building<br />
