Evaluation Checklist<br />
Operate a sprinkler system control valve.<br />
<strong>Task</strong> Steps 1st 2nd<br />
OS&Y<br />
1. Confirm order with officer to operate valve.<br />
2. Close the OS&Y valve by turning it clockwise until the valve is fully<br />
closed and the stem is flush with the wheel.<br />
3. Open the OS&Y valve by turning it counterclockwise until fully<br />
opened.<br />
4. Back off the OS&Y valve one-quarter turn clockwise.<br />
<strong>Task</strong> Steps 1st 2nd<br />
PIV<br />
1. Confirm order with officer to operate valve.<br />
2. Unlock the PIV wrench from the PIV body.<br />
3. Position the PIV wrench on stem nut.<br />
4. Close the PIV valve, turning it clockwise slowly until the target<br />
window indicates CLOSED or SHUT.<br />
5. Open the PIV valve, turning it counterclockwise until fully open and<br />
target window indicates OPEN.<br />
6. Back off the PIV valve, turning it clockwise one-quarter turn<br />
ensuring that the target window remains OPEN.<br />
7. Replace and lock the wrench onto the PIV body.<br />
