Directions<br />
For this skills evaluation checklist, students will use hand tools to remove wall and ceiling materials to<br />
look for hidden fires. Students should be wearing full PPE during this skill. Inform each student of their<br />
position. A safety officer should check each student’s gear before they enter the danger zone.<br />
Ensure firefighter safety at all times during this training evolution. Before proceeding with live fire training<br />
evolutions, read and adhere to NFPA 1403 ® , Standard on Live <strong>Fire</strong> Training Evolutions. Have students<br />
repeat this exercise, rotating duties so that each student has a chance to perform these tasks.<br />
• Full protective clothing and SCBA for all<br />
firefighters<br />
Equipment & Materials<br />
• One 1½-inch (38 mm) or larger charged backup<br />
line supplied from a second water source<br />
• Training prop that simulates hidden fires • Hand tools such as pike poles and axes<br />
• One 1½-inch (38 mm) or larger charged • Carryall or bucket for debris<br />
attack line equipped with a fog nozzle<br />
