Evaluation Sheet 7-2
Objective : Coil and uncoil a rope. (NFPA ® 1001, 5.5.1)
Student Name: Date:
Directions
For this skills evaluation checklist, students will coil and uncoil a rope. Coiling rope so that it may be
uncoiled and placed in service with little delay is very important in the fire service. An improperly coiled
handline or lifeline could result in the failure of an operation. If the coil is not carefully prepared, the rope
may not pay out to the ground.
• One 20-foot or 30-foot (6 m or 9 m) length
of rope
• Extension or straight ladder or other
structure with support standards
