Cumm<strong>in</strong>s has enjoyed more than two years<br />

of outstand<strong>in</strong>g growth which cont<strong>in</strong>ued <strong>in</strong><br />

2011 with record revenue of $18 billion and<br />

a 54 percent <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> Earn<strong>in</strong>gs Before<br />

Interest and Taxes (EBIT).<br />

“Cumm<strong>in</strong>s had its best year ever <strong>in</strong><br />

2011, despite economic uncerta<strong>in</strong>ty <strong>in</strong> a<br />

number of regions,” said Tom L<strong>in</strong>ebarger,<br />

the Company’s Chairman and Chief<br />

Executive Officer. “We cont<strong>in</strong>ue to benefit<br />

from our lead<strong>in</strong>g position <strong>in</strong> a number<br />

of end markets and geographies.<br />

“Revenue <strong>in</strong> the United States grew<br />

53 percent and <strong>in</strong>ternational revenue<br />

grew 27 percent year-over-year,” he said.<br />

“In fact, we experienced record full-year<br />

revenues <strong>in</strong> North America, Brazil,<br />

Ch<strong>in</strong>a, India and a number of other<br />

important markets.”<br />

Overall revenue for 2011 <strong>in</strong>creased<br />

36 percent compared to 2010.<br />

Net <strong>in</strong>come attributable to Cumm<strong>in</strong>s for<br />

the full year was $1.85 billion. Exclud<strong>in</strong>g<br />

the benefit from the ga<strong>in</strong>s on divestiture<br />

of two bus<strong>in</strong>esses with<strong>in</strong> the Components<br />

segment, and an <strong>in</strong>surance settlement<br />

stemm<strong>in</strong>g from a flood <strong>in</strong> Columbus, Ind.<br />

<strong>in</strong> 2008, the Company <strong>report</strong>ed full-year<br />

net <strong>in</strong>come of $1.75 billion, up from<br />

$1.04 billion <strong>in</strong> 2010.<br />

Cumm<strong>in</strong>s will make a significant<br />

<strong>in</strong>vestment back <strong>in</strong>to the Company<br />

<strong>in</strong> 2012.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Company anticipates mak<strong>in</strong>g<br />

between $800 million and $850 million<br />

<strong>in</strong> capital expenditures <strong>in</strong> 2012 and<br />

Cumm<strong>in</strong>s’ jo<strong>in</strong>t ventures are expected<br />

to <strong>in</strong>vest another $550 million to<br />

$600 million.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Company expects to cont<strong>in</strong>ue<br />

<strong>in</strong>vest<strong>in</strong>g around four percent of sales<br />

back <strong>in</strong>to the bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>in</strong> future years.<br />

Cumm<strong>in</strong>s’ f<strong>in</strong>ancial performance<br />

has been recognized by several<br />

outside entities <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g three<br />

credit agencies that upgraded<br />

the Company’s rat<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> 2011.<br />
