DEMONSTRATIONS In the event of a demonstration on campus grounds: 1. Keep calm. Resistance may only increase destruction of property and threat to bodily harm. 2. Gather the following information: a. Location b. Approximate number of leaders c. Size of group d. Obvious objective or demand of group e. Describe if group is rational, organized, violent, etc. 3. Call Jon Ris (Unire – Property Management) 909-390-5353 4. Notify a member of the Crisis Management Team 5. Remain near the area but out of harm’s way until security and the CMT arrive. 31
ELEVATOR BREAKDOWN Crisis: The elevator has stopped operating and people are trapped inside. - People trapped inside should push the call button inside the elevator. The elevator repair service is automatically dispatched by pushing the call button. - Individuals aware of the situation should immediately inform building security. - Building security will contact management personnel to assist with calming those inside the elevator informing them that repair has been notified and that the elevator will be repaired as quickly as possible. Instruct those trapped inside not to pry the doors open or otherwise crawl out of the elevator. - If fatalities are involved, the Senior Director of Communications and appropriate campus personnel will instruct staff, faculty, and students not to speak with any media representatives. Refer to procedures related to Death of Student or Employee. When injuries occur, the Associate Director of Student Services will help facilitate communication with the family. - The Senior Director of Communications, the University Chancellor and the Campus President will prepare a statement for public and internal Argosy University communication. 32
