TRANSPORTATION ACCIDENT
Transportation accidents include injury or loss of life resulting from accidents involving
Campus-owned and/or operated vehicles or aircraft, as well as commercial conveyances
carrying or otherwise coming in contact with University faculty, staff, or students.
Aircraft Crash/Vehicle Crash on Campus
Because of the unique location of an airport and a major freeway in close proximity to
campuses, the possibility of an aircraft crash or transportation accident on campus must be
considered.
Take the following actions if you are in a structure affected by an aircraft crash:
1. Immediately take cover under tables, desks, and other objects that will give protection
from falling glass or debris.
2. After the effect of the crash and/or fire has subsided, call 911 and notify a CMT member.
Give your name, location, and the nature of the emergency.
3. If necessary, or when directed to do so, activate the building alarm.
4. Follow standard evacuation procedures and report to your designated building assembly
location until an accurate headcount is taken.
5. Depending on structural damage to facilities, Facilities Management may cut off utilities
to the structure for safety purposes.
6. The CMT will coordinate emergency response from non- campus entities such as the
Ontario Fire Department and Ontario Police.
