18. Oral Testing - The SCFA provides oral testing ONLY as a reasonable accommodation for students who
qualify under Americans with Disability Act. To apply for the accommodation, a student must submit a
written request to the regional coordinator, accompanied by documentation from a professional with an
appropriate license to make diagnosis and to recommend reasonable accommodation. In order to assure
that accommodation will be available in a timely fashion, the SCFA asks that the request be filed with the
regional coordinator at the time of application for a course and no later than the mid-point of the course.
When oral testing is approved, the regional coordinator will set the time and place for exam administration.
[NOTE: oral examinations may not be reasonable for Hazardous Materials courses where the student
must demonstrate the ability to locate and use appropriate sections of the DOT Emergency Response Guidebook.]
