1140 RAPID INTERVENTION CREW (RIC)<br />
<strong>Fire</strong>fighting Curriculum<br />
This course allows students to apply their knowledge and skills from course 1139 Rescuing the Rescuer. The<br />
classroom portion covers legal aspects, events requiring RIC, personnel requirements, deployment consideration<br />
and command responsibilities. Tool and equipment considerations for RIC will also be covered. Practical<br />
evolutions will be scenario driven. Students are encouraged to bring any personal equipment they would<br />
normally carry as a member of a rapid intervention crew.<br />

1151 FIREFIGHTER CANDIDATE SCHOOL<br />
This program will take the student from recruit level through certification at the NFPA 1001 - <strong>Fire</strong>fighter II<br />
level. This eight-week program covers all aspects of firefighting, including: fire behavior, protective equipment,<br />
hose, ventilation, salvage and overhaul and fire attack. It includes CPR and first aid, incident command, haz-mat<br />
operations and auto extrication. Physical training is part of the program. Students will be housed at the <strong>Fire</strong><br />
<strong>Academy</strong> fire station and will perform standard station duties. Upon successful completion of this program,<br />
the student will be a certified <strong>Fire</strong>fighter II by IFSAC and medical first responder and will be qualified at the<br />
OSHA haz-mat operations level. Fee includes housing, breakfast and lunch. Visit our Web site at www.scfa.<br />
