8506 QUARTERLY FIRE MARSHAL TRAINING<br />
Inspection & Investigation<br />
: These six-hour training programs are conducted to assist Certified <strong>Fire</strong> Marshals in obtaining the required<br />
40 Professional Development Hours (PDH) of training needed to apply for recertification biennially. Courses<br />
are delivered throughout the state through the SCFA Regional Offices. One class is conducted each quarter at<br />
various locations within the state, and two identical classes are conducted each quarter at the SCFA. Classes<br />
are developed based on training requests received from Certified <strong>Fire</strong> Marshals, updated information from<br />
statutes, codes and standards, and items deemed of special interest to the cadre of Certified <strong>Fire</strong> Marshals.<br />
Subject matter changes each quarter.<br />
Per CFM recertification policy, each year one mandatory quarterly class is required. Certified <strong>Fire</strong> Marshals<br />
are given the choice in attending only one quarterly class offered in August or November.<br />
Prerequisite: None<br />
Hours: six per class (PDH)<br />
Class Hours: 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.<br />
Fees: $5 per regional class (no meal provided), $11 for SCFA class (includes lunch, dorms not included. All<br />
costs and fees incurred for registration and training will be the responsibility of the individual or the respective<br />
department or agency.<br />
Students: Minimum – 20, maximum - depends on location.<br />

Registration Cut-off: Registration for this course has a 30-day cut-off. Pre-registration is required for all courses<br />
and must be received prior to cut-off date. Walk-in registration is not allowed.<br />
Textbook Information: Unless otherwise specified in a specific course offering, no textbooks will be required.<br />
Depending on the subject matter, it is suggested that students bring the referenced code book or standard.<br />
Handout materials will be provided for students taking notes. An exam may be given at the end of each program.<br />
Application Procedure: Students must complete the SCFA Registration Form and submit it to the appropriate<br />
SCFA Registrar, at least 30 days prior to start of class.<br />
Course Completion Certificates: Students successfully completing the course will be provided certificates indicating<br />
the number of PDH awarded for credit toward biennial recertification.<br />
