Yew Chung Through the Years 耀 中 里 程
1932-1970
The first Yew Chung School founded by Madam Tsang Chorhang
in Hong Kong in 1932; Yew Chung Kindergarten and
Primary School established. Madam Tsang names her school
“Yew Chung” – meaning “to glorify China”.
曾 楚 珩 女 士 於 1932 年 在 香 港 創 辦 第 一 所 耀 中 學 校 ; 耀 中 幼 兒 園 和
小 學 開 啟 。 曾 女 士 為 學 校 起 名 「 耀 中 」, 以 光 耀 中 華 為 理 想 。

Early childhood education introduced by Dr Betty Chan Poking
with pioneering concepts – open classrooms and learning
through play. Yew Chung expands from one campus with 2
students to 1,500 students in seven campuses in Hong Kong.

Yew Chung International Primary School established; Yew
Chung Education Foundation founded and the Infant and
Toddler Learning Programme launched.
耀 中 國 際 小 學 開 啟 ; 耀 中 教 育 機 構 成 立 ; 嬰 幼 兒 學 習 課 程 開 辦 。
1990-2000
Yew Chung International Secondary School established.

1993
YCIS Shanghai opens in Hongqiao district, which is the first
international school officially recognised by and registered with
the Chinese government. The opening of the second and third
campuses in Gubei and Pudong districts follow.
上 海 耀 中 於 虹 橋 區 開 辦 , 是 第 一 所 獲 中 國 政 府 認 可 和 註 冊 的 國 際
學 校 , 第 二 及 第 三 所 校 舍 其 後 於 古 北 區 和 浦 東 落 成 。
YCIS Shanghai Pudong Campus

1995 YCIS Beijing opens. 北 京 耀 中 開 辦 。
YCIS Chongqing and YCIS Silicon Valley open.
重 慶 耀 中 及 矽 谷 耀 中 開 辦 。
2002
2006 YCIS Qingdao opens. 青 島 耀 中 開 辦 。
2012
YCIS becomes the first network of schools in China awarded
the Cambridge Award for Excellence in Education.
