Afghan Air Force (AAF)
Mission: To provide trained and ready airmen and soldiers to execute critical tasks from the
air in support of the ANA, and when directed, the civil authorities of Afghanistan. In a country
largely inaccessible by road, the Afghan armed forces depend heavily upon the AAF to conduct
airlift of soldiers and supplies between corps operating locations, casualty evacuation, transportation
of human remains, air assault, armed overwatch, and aerial escort.
