<strong>Los</strong> <strong>Gatos</strong> Boulevard setbacks should be<br />

substantially landscaped<br />

a) A minimum landscaped setback <strong>of</strong> 15 feet shall<br />

be maintained from fronting sidewalks. (Note: Current<br />

zoning code requires only a 10 foot setback but larger<br />

setbacks along the Boulevard are common)<br />

b) The inner edge <strong>of</strong> front setbacks (i.e., away from<br />

the street edge) should be treated as a positive edge<br />

with one or more <strong>of</strong> the following:<br />

• Low wall<br />

• Hedge<br />

• Trellis structure<br />

• Buildings<br />

c) Front setback edge treatments should be three<br />

feet in height to screen the view <strong>of</strong> automobile grilles<br />

in the parking lot from street view.<br />

d) Front setback landscaping shall include large species<br />

trees.<br />

e) Flowering plants are strongly encouraged.<br />

Automobile entries to projects and individual<br />

buildings shall be given special treatment<br />

with paving and landscaping<br />

a) Provide special textured and/or colored paving<br />

at pedestrian crossings <strong>of</strong> project entries.<br />

b) Special accent landscaping should be provided<br />

at entries to include flowering plants.<br />

c) Care should be given in the development <strong>of</strong><br />

project site plans to provide substantial focal points<br />

at the terminus <strong>of</strong> project entries (e.g., major building<br />

entries or architectural forms, groupings <strong>of</strong> landscaping.)<br />

All projects shall have a clear and direct walkway<br />

between fronting streets and one or more <strong>of</strong><br />

the primary building entries<br />

a) Provide pedestrian amenities (e.g., benches, landscaping,<br />

special paving) and pedestrian scale lighting.<br />

Provide landscaped setbacks along <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Gatos</strong><br />

Blvd.<br />

Flowering landscaping is encouraged at project<br />

entries<br />

Parking lots should be located behind or to<br />
