Memorandum of Understanding between <strong>BIDS</strong><br />

and IFPRI<br />

In July <strong>2009</strong>, <strong>BIDS</strong> and the International Food Policy<br />

Research Institute (IFPRI) with its headquarters in<br />

Washington DC signed an agreement to establish<br />

cooperative relations to promote collaborative<br />

research and capacity strengthening activities.<br />

Potential collaborative activities would cover a<br />

wide range of areas such as building a stronger<br />

and more integrated knowledge support system<br />

in Bangladesh for future food policy analysis<br />

and helping agricultural and rural development<br />

strategy decisions, strengthening policies and<br />

programs to reduce poverty and hunger, and<br />

evaluating the implementation and impacts of<br />

various interventions. The <strong>BIDS</strong> and IFPRI have<br />

started collaboration under the Policy Research<br />

and Strategy Support Program (PRSSP) with<br />

support from the USAID.<br />

Research Collaboration between <strong>BIDS</strong> and<br />

Bangladesh Bank<br />

The <strong>BIDS</strong> and the Bangladesh Bank (the central<br />

bank) have agreed to undertake joint research<br />

and related activities on issues of mutual interest<br />

,especially relating to macroeconomic modeling<br />

and forecasting and the overall monetary and<br />

financial systems of the country. Under the<br />

Agreement, the two institutions will collaborate<br />

in research, training, joint holding of workshops/<br />

seminars, and any other activity agreed upon by<br />

both the parties.<br />
