of Manitoba in 1999. Dr Mahmud previously<br />
taught at Queens University Belfast (UK), Keele<br />
University (UK), Brac University and Jahangirngar<br />
University in Bangladesh. His research interest is<br />
about behavioral and experimental economics,<br />
environment, health and development issues. He<br />
has published in reputed international journals. He<br />
is working as a Research Fellow of <strong>BIDS</strong>.<br />
Kazi Iqbal<br />
Research Fellow<br />
Dr. Kazi Iqbal received his Ph.D. in Economics<br />
from the University of Washington, Seattle in<br />
2006. He worked for World Bank Institute and<br />
taught at the University of Washington and<br />
Macalester College, Minnesota. His research<br />
interest lies in macroeconomics, public economics<br />
and development issues. He has publications in<br />
internationally reputed journals. Currently he is<br />
involved in studying the strategic behavior of<br />
NGOs/MFIs in Bangladesh. He is working as a<br />
Research Fellow in <strong>BIDS</strong>.<br />
Mohammad Harunur Rashid Bhuyan<br />
Research Associate<br />
Mr. Mohammad Harunur Rashid Bhuyan is currently<br />
pursuing his Ph.D. on Climate Change Resilience<br />
of the Peasant Community in Bangladesh as an<br />
Endeavour Scholar in Monash University. He<br />
completed his Master’s in Sociology from the<br />
New School University, New York in 2007 and did<br />
his M.S.S. and B.S.S. (Honours) in Sociology from<br />
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology,<br />
Sylhet. He is a Research Associate of <strong>BIDS</strong>.<br />
Muhammad Mudabbir Husain<br />
Research Associate<br />
Mr. Muhammad Mudabbir Husain obtained his<br />
B.S.S (Honours) in Economics from the University<br />
of Dhaka in 2003 and M.A. from the Georgia<br />
State University in 2008. His areas of interest<br />
include public finance, international trade, labor<br />
economics, theoretical and applied econometrics.<br />
He is a Research Associate of <strong>BIDS</strong>.<br />
Nehraz Mahmud<br />
Research Associate<br />
Ms. Nehraz Mahmud completed her M.A. in<br />
Anthropology and Women’s Studies from Brandeis<br />
University in 2007 and had earlier done MSS in 2003<br />
and BSS in 2002 in Anthropology from Rajshahi<br />
University. Her dominant research interests are in<br />
the areas of gender issues, women’s rights, politics<br />
and power, economies and societies, cultural<br />
context of healthcare, education and other issues<br />
related to development. She joined <strong>BIDS</strong> as a<br />
Research Associate in 2004.<br />
S.M. Zahedul Islam Chowdhury<br />
Research Associate<br />
Mr. S.M. Zahedul Islam Chowdhury completed<br />
B. Sc. (Honours) and M. Sc. in Economics from<br />
Jahangirnagar University and joined <strong>BIDS</strong> as a<br />
Research Associate in 2004. His areas of interest<br />
are agriculture and rural development, women’s<br />
empowerment and health issues. Currently, he is<br />
pursuing his Ph.D. in Turkey.<br />
Mohammad Mainul Hoque<br />
Research Associate<br />
Mr. Mohammad Mainul Hoque is a Research<br />
Associate at <strong>BIDS</strong> since 2006. He completed his<br />
M.S.S in Economics in 2005 from University of<br />
Dhaka. His areas of interest include fiscal and<br />
monetary economics, trade policies and tools of<br />
restrictions, economics of exhaustible resources,<br />
information economics and healthcare demand.<br />
Humayra Ahmed<br />
Research Associate<br />
Ms. Humayra Ahmed obtained her M.S.S in<br />
Economics in 2006 from the University of Dhaka<br />
and joined <strong>BIDS</strong> as a Research Associate in 2006.<br />
Her areas of interest include environmental<br />
economics, health and population economics,<br />
macroeconomic issues, regional trade and<br />
development economics.<br />
