LIFE GUARDING<br />
Red Cross certification course includes CPR, First Aid, AED, Lifeguard Training,<br />
and Waterfront Lifeguard Training.<br />
Pre-requisite: Must be 15 years old by June 16, 2014 (Need to be 16 to get a lifeguarding job)<br />
Must pass pre-course requirements: Swim continuously for 550 yards- of that 200 yards front crawl, 200 yards<br />
breaststroke, and 150 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke; in 1 minute 40 seconds swim 20 yards; surface<br />
dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound brick, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point; and swim 5 yards, submerge<br />
and retrieve 3 rings placed 5 yards apart in 4-7 feet of water, and swim 5 yards back to side.<br />

MEQUON WAVE SUMMER SWIM TEAM<br />
The M-T <strong>Recreation</strong> Department and Ozaukee Aquatics have teamed up to offer a summer swim team known<br />
as the “<strong>Mequon</strong> Wave Swim Team.” The program will run for 6 weeks: 3 practices per week, and mini-meets<br />
with other recreation department swim teams. It is open to those entering 12th grade or younger and who<br />
can complete one length of a 25-yard pool of any stroke.<br />

WATER SAFTEY INSTRUCTOR<br />
This course certifies students to teach Red Cross Swimming classes. To be certified as a Red Cross Water Safety<br />
Instructor the student must do the following -successfully complete the pre-course requirements, attend and<br />
successfully participate in all course sessions, successfully complete the required number of practice-teaching<br />
assignments, and score at least 80% on the final instructor course written exam. Students must also demonstrate<br />
throughout the course that they are mature and responsible.<br />
Pre-requisite: Must be 16 years old by August 11, 2014. 25 yards front crawl, 25 yards back crawl, 25 yards<br />
sidestroke, 25 yards breaststroke, 25 yards elementary backstroke, and 15 yards butterfly, back float or scull for 1<br />
minute in deep water, and tread water for 1 minute.<br />
Location: <strong>Mequon</strong> City Pool (heated) from 8:30am - Noon and HHS Pool from Noon – 5pm<br />
Dates: Monday – Friday, August 11 - 15<br />
Time: 8:30am – 5:00pm<br />
