May 23 - Sporadic fighting still between the transitional government troops and al-shabab still<br />
continues near Bakara market for the 3 rd day in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, just as alshabab<br />
militias claimed victories over the clashes, officials said on Tuesday. 50 people died and<br />
over 100 people injured in the past two days and mostly civilians and they were rushed to Medina<br />
and Daynile hospitals in Mogadishu according to health, emergency traffic and government<br />

May 20 - At least 39 persons were killed and 112 wounded in <strong>Somalia</strong>‘s latest clashes this week,<br />
RBC‘s weekly report states. The report which is based on figures proved by the hospitals, local<br />
officials and the media seems to be higher than statics of casualties in last week.<br />

May 18 - Shells fired in battles between insurgent militant Islamists and African Union forces at a<br />
Mogadishu market on Wednesday left at least 14 civilian dead, witnesses said. "Nine victims<br />
died in two separate areas inside Bakara market, most of them women," witness Idriss Ali told<br />
AFP. "One round of mortar shells struck a crowded place where women sell clothes," he said.<br />

May 12 - Clashes between Somali militia and government-allied troops have killed at least 13<br />
people, mainly insurgent fighters, officials said. The insurgents attacked government forces in<br />

May 3 rd - <strong>Somalia</strong> President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed claimed victory over Al-Shabab after a<br />
day-long fighting between government forces and the Al-Shabab rebels occurred in Garbaharey<br />
town of Gedo region. At least 15 persons from the warring sides and civilians were killed in the<br />
fighting that ended in the evening of Monday while twenty more wounded people were taken to<br />
hospitals, health officials confirmed RBC Radio.<br />
