Soldiers' Shooting Rampage Condemned<br />

Feb 1 - Members of the transitional federal parliament and Mogadishu traditional elders on<br />

Tuesday similarly condemned yesterday's civilian shoot out at Mogadishu Benadir intersection<br />

and committed by some of Somali government soldiers in Mogadishu.Ali Mohamoud Farah better<br />

known as (Ali Seko) has told Shabelle that Somali parliament is very sorry about the civilian<br />

casualties by Somali government,.<br />

Mr. Ali Seko described the shocking incident as deplorable, saying that it is needed and<br />

necessary Somali forces who committed against Mogadishu civilian people to be put on trial as<br />

soon as possible. For his part, Ahmed Diriye, the spokesman of Hawiye traditional elders based<br />

in the seaside war-torn Mogadishu has vehemently condemned the incident saying that it<br />

shocking.<br />

Jan 31 - At least 20 people were killed Monday including many civilians after Transitional Federal<br />

Government (TFG) of <strong>Somalia</strong> soldiers open indiscriminate fire upon civilians, Radio Garowe<br />

reports.<br />

The incident happened near Banadir Hospital in Mogadishu, after TFG soldiers killed a fellow<br />

soldier "dressed in civilian uniform."<br />

Witnesses said the dead soldier, who had a pistol tucked in, was killed after TFG troops became<br />

suspicious of him. Fellow soldiers from the dead soldier's unit were in an "argument" with the<br />

attacking troops when indiscriminate gunfire was opened.<br />

Among the dead were women and two employees of Banadir Hospital, sources added. "Some of<br />

the dead cut into pieces. The wounded survivors...some of them had their legs or arms cut off,"<br />

said a woman, who was helping the wounded persons.<br />

10 Killed, 20 Wounded in Mogadishu Fighting<br />

Jan 29- At least 10 people were killed Saturday in the Somali capital Mogadishu as daily violence<br />

continued between government forces and insurgents, Radio Garowe reports.<br />

Witnesses in Mogadishu's Bondhere, Hodan and Howlwadag districts reported intense street<br />

battles, with at least 5 civilians among the dead. Mogadishu medical sources said 16 wounded<br />

civilians were rushed to local hospitals for treatment.<br />

Al Shabaab insurgents, who claimed responsibility for the fighting, said they targeted positioned<br />

manned by Somali government forces and their African Union (AMISOM) allies. Some reports<br />

said artillery shells hit residential areas of Mogadishu, with two civilians killed in Wardhigley<br />

district and one person killed in Yaaqshiid district, where no street fighting took place.<br />
