April 9 - At least 68 people have been killed in <strong>Somalia</strong> in clashes between government forces<br />

and African Union troops backing them and al-Shabab fighters. Nine civilians from one family<br />

were killed in fighting in the Dayniile district of southern Mogadishu, which also claimed the lives<br />

of six African Union troops and eight Somali soldiers, the Press TV correspondent in Mogadishu<br />

reported on Friday. Witnesses also said that 26 people sustained life-threatening injuries during<br />

massive shelling of the district.<br />

April 6- At least eight people have been killed and 12 injured in fighting and bomb blast in<br />

<strong>Somalia</strong>‘s war-ravaged capital Mogadishu on Wednesday, Witnesses told Garowe Online.<br />

Fighting between Somali government troops and Al-Shabaab radical militants erupted in<br />

Mogadishu outskirts; witnesses told GO that both of the warring sides used heavy machine guns<br />

and mortars that left dead eight civilians and injured dozens.<br />

April 4- At least 12 people have been killed and more than 20 injured in clashes between Somali<br />

government troops and Al-Shabab radical militants in Somali capital Mogadishu on Monday [4<br />

April], Radio Garowe reports. The clashes broke out after Al-Shabab militias attacked bases of<br />

Somali government forces and African Union troops in the capital, witnesses said both the<br />

warring sides used mortars and heavy machine guns, causing the death of seven civilians and<br />

injured 15 others.<br />

March 28 - Heavy clashes between Somali government troops backed by African Union forces<br />

and al-Shabab fighters have resulted in the deaths of 29 people in Mogadishu. At least 18 Somali<br />

soldiers died on Monday after bitter clashes broke out between al-Shabab fighters and the<br />

transitional government troops in Mogadishu's northern district of Afarta Darjino, a Press TV<br />

correspondent in Mogadishu reported.<br />

March 26 - At least 12 civilians have been killed during clashes between Somali government<br />

troops backed by African Union forces and al-Shabab fighters in Mogadishu. The civilians,<br />

among them women and children, were killed on Saturday after the fighting broke out in<br />

Mogadishu's northern districts of Bondhere and Dayniile as well as the southern district of Hodan,<br />

the Press TV correspondent in Mogadishu reported. More than 67 people were also wounded<br />

when Somali soldiers and al-Shabab fighters exchanged heavy gunfire, and barrages of mortar<br />

shells were fired.<br />
