that the intraclass correlation coefficient is a more appropriate indicator of testretest<br />

reliability compared to the Pearson’s correlation coefficient (see<br />

Correlate Bivariate in the Analyze menu).<br />

In Figure 44, suppose you want to examine whether five judges in gymnastics<br />

are consistent in their rating of five different gymnasts. The interest is on the<br />

consistency of the judges’ scores (i.e., good per<strong>for</strong>mances receive higher scores<br />

than average or poor per<strong>for</strong>mances) rather than their absolute agreement (i.e.,<br />

identical scores <strong>for</strong> the same gymnast). In other words, you are looking <strong>for</strong> nonsignificant<br />

differences across the columns of Figure 44. Move the variables<br />

judge1-5 in the Items box of Dialog box 96. Then click Statistics.
