Ken Caveney<br />

Vice President of Finance<br />

FRONT OFFICE<br />

Ken Caveney begins his eighth year as vice president of finance for Silicon<br />

Valley Sports & Entertainment and has been associated with the organization for 19<br />

years. He has been employed by the organization since 1994, previously serving as<br />

tax manager and director of finance.<br />

Caveney, 42, directs the financial reporting environment for all of SVS&E’s<br />

properties including <strong>com</strong>pliance with National Hockey League and City of <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong><br />

reporting requirements. In addition, Caveney is responsible for the tax, budgeting,<br />

forecasting and financial modeling processes for the <strong>com</strong>pany.<br />

From 1991-93, Caveney provided consultation services to the <strong>Sharks</strong> while with Deloitte & Touche, LLP. He<br />

became recognized as a Certified Public Accountant in California in 1993.<br />

Caveney has served as a volunteer consultant for more than 19 years through Junior Achievement’s Applied<br />

Economics program, having worked in classrooms at various <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong> high schools including Pioneer, <strong>San</strong>ta<br />

Teresa, Gunderson and Valley Christian.<br />

Born in <strong>San</strong> Francisco, Caveney was raised in Salinas. He earned an associate’s degree from Hartnell<br />

College, a bachelor’s in business from Cal Poly at <strong>San</strong> Luis Obispo and a master’s degree in taxation from <strong>San</strong><br />

<strong>Jose</strong> State University. Caveney currently serves on Cal Poly’s Accounting and Law Advisory Council.<br />

Eric Mastalir<br />

Vice President of Corporate Partnerships<br />

Eric Mastalir enters his second season as vice president of corporate partnerships<br />

with Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment, where he oversees all sponsorship sales<br />

and service efforts for SVS&E, including the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong> <strong>Sharks</strong>, HP Pavilion Management,<br />

<strong>Sharks</strong> Ice at <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong> (the <strong>Sharks</strong> official training facility), <strong>Sharks</strong> Ice at Fremont,<br />

Oakland Ice Center managed by <strong>Sharks</strong> Ice, the SAP Open (<strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong>) as well as select<br />

HP Pavilion events such as American Metal & Iron Fight Night at the Tank (professional<br />

boxing) and Strikeforce Mixed Martial Arts.<br />

In addition, he oversees the HP Pavilion suite sales and hospitality staff.<br />

Mastalir spent 2005-08 with Maloof Sports & Entertainment, where he successfully led efforts to grow the<br />

organization’s corporate sponsor base of the Sacramento Kings, Sacramento Monarchs and ARCO Arena. With<br />

a background boasting experience in both the corporate and agency world, Mastalir has worked in corporate<br />

sales and business development for <strong>com</strong>panies such as adidas, Bausch & Lomb and LVMH. On the agency side at<br />

Omni<strong>com</strong>, he has been involved in corporate sponsorships and marketing for <strong>com</strong>panies wishing to leverage global<br />

sports and entertainment events. He has worked with clients on high-profile properties such as the Olympics, Super<br />

Bowl, Grammy Awards and the Sundance Film Festival.<br />

Mastalir, 41, holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Stanford University, where he earned NCAA All-<br />

American honors in track and cross country.<br />

Kent Russell<br />

Vice President of Sales and Marketing<br />

Kent Russell enters his 14th season with Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment<br />

(SVS&E), his ninth as vice president of sales and marketing. He joined the organization<br />

in September 1996 as director of ticket sales and promotions.<br />

Russell oversees Ticket Sales, Service and Operations, Marketing, Advertising and<br />

Database Management as well as Event Presentation for the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong> <strong>Sharks</strong>, SAP<br />

Open (Worldwide ATP Tour), American Metal & Iron Fight Night at The Tank, Strikeforce<br />

Mixed Martial Arts, as well as select HP Pavilion events. He also manages SVS&E’s<br />

Memphis, Tenn. properties — Regions Morgan Keegan Championships (Worldwide<br />

ATP Tour), Cellular South Cup (Sony Ericsson WTA Tour) and The Racquet Club of Memphis — an 188,000 square<br />

foot, full-service racquet, swim and fitness club.<br />

As the chief marketing officer for SVS&E, Russell oversees a variety of HP Pavilion events, and is also responsible<br />

for marketing and selling HP Pavilion to the entertainment, sporting and event industries — as the top facility in<br />

Northern California — at which to entertain, play and <strong>com</strong>pete.<br />

Russell serves as a board member for the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong> Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce — a coalition of<br />

businesses representing more than a quarter of a million jobs across every sector of the economy.<br />

Before joining SVS&E, he spent three years with the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams as director of sales and marketing,<br />
