HOW THE SHARKS
FOUNDATION IMPACTS
SILICON VALLEY
“The Sharks Foundation and the Good
Tidings Foundation both set out 14 years
ago to improve the lives of youth in the
area. The Sharks Foundation has been
the South Bay leader in this mission.
Their players, coaches and staff are truly
passionate about helping deserving youth.
I am honored to call them a community
partner.” — Larry Harper
Founder, Good Tidings Foundation
“’Reading Is Cool’ is a wonderful
program that encourages children of
all levels to read. It’s great that the
San Jose Sharks are so committed to
encouraging students of our community
to believe that learning to read really
is in fact cool.” — Lynda Campbell
Kindergarten teacher, Valle Vista School
Adopt-a-Family Holiday Party
San Jose Sharks players, coaches and staff share the holiday season with local families in need as hosts
of the Sharks Foundation’s Adopt-A-Family Holiday Party. Festivities include an ice skating party at Sharks
Ice at San Jose with arts and crafts, dinner donated by Outback Steakhouse, dessert and service donated by
GENERAL
Charity Drives
The Sharks Foundation teams up with several groups throughout the year to play hosts to drives for items in
need. In November, Sharks fans can help launch the Second Harvest Food Bank Holiday Food Drive by bringing
canned food to games on Nov. 10 and 12. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys For Tots Toy Drive will occur
on Dec. 3 and 5. Fans are encouraged to bring a new and unwrapped toy to be given to a child in need. For the
second year, the Share the Warmth Drive will be held on Dec. 11 and 17. New or gently used blankets and coats
will be donated to those in need throughout Silicon Valley. Finally, the Reading Is Cool program will play hosts
to Children’s Book Drives on Jan. 21 and 23. All books will be donated to local elementary school libraries. All
drives take place at the North and South Entrances of HP Pavilion at San Jose and monetary donations are also
