WORCESTER SHARKS<br />
The Kalamazoo Wings, members of the ECHL — America’s premier “AA” hockey league — have<br />
be<strong>com</strong>e <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong>’s secondary affiliate for the first time. The <strong>Sharks</strong> will also share this affiliation<br />
with the Philadelphia Flyers.<br />
“The <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong> <strong>Sharks</strong> are pleased to add this quality organization as our development affiliate,”<br />
<strong>Sharks</strong> Vice President and Assistant General Manager Wayne Thomas said. “The Kalamazoo Wings<br />
have a long-standing tradition of excellence in its market on-and-off the ice.”<br />
“We’re excited and honored to be associated with two of the finest franchises in the <strong>NHL</strong>,”<br />
Kalamazoo President Paul L. Pickard said of the dual affiliation with <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong> and Philadelphia.<br />
“Both organizations share our core values and have our <strong>com</strong>mitment for producing championshipcaliber<br />
teams.”<br />
Kalamazoo debuted as a member of the defunct International Hockey League in 1974. The<br />
team won two Turner Cups, symbolic of the IHL Championship in 1979 and 1980. As a member of<br />
the United Hockey League in 2005-06, the K-Wings were Colonial Cup Champions.<br />
The K-Wings have been affiliated in the past with Detroit (1974-87), Philadephia and Vancouver<br />
(1984-87) and Minnesota/Dallas Stars (1987-00).<br />
