David Maley<br />

David Maley begins his fourth season with the <strong>Sharks</strong> radio team. A veteran of nine<br />

National Hockey League seasons (including two with <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong>), Maley provides color<br />

analysis for selected home games and participates in the pregame “<strong>Sharks</strong> Warmup”<br />

and intermission programming.<br />

Known during his career as a physical, hard-hitting forward, Maley was a winner at<br />

every level. As a freshman at the University of Wisconsin in 1983, he was an important<br />

<strong>com</strong>ponent to the Badgers NCAA Division I Champion squad.<br />

Maley <strong>com</strong>piled 124 points (43 goals, 81 assists) and 1,043 PIM and played in 466<br />

<strong>NHL</strong> games with Montreal, New Jersey, Edmonton, <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong> and the New York Islanders.<br />

In addition, he also appeared in 46 Stanley Cup Playoff games. During his second professional season in 1987,<br />

Maley won a Stanley Cup with the Canadiens.<br />

In 1996, Maley founded Rollin’ Ice at the <strong>San</strong>ta Clara County Fairgrounds, which became the Bay Area’s premier<br />

inline hockey facility. Recently, Maley re-located the facility to south <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong>, where it has be<strong>com</strong>e the Silver Creek<br />

Sportsplex, a multi-faceted sports and fitness destination featuring 240,000 square feet of state-of-the-art facilities<br />

and professional expertise.<br />

He has served as president of the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong> <strong>Sharks</strong> Alumni since 2003, playing an integral part in raising funds<br />

for the <strong>Sharks</strong> Foundation.<br />

Maley also serves on the board of the Police Activities League (PAL) and recently founded the Dream On<br />

Foundation, both of which give youth a chance to participate in sports that they could otherwise not afford.<br />
