David Cunniff<br />

Assistant Coach<br />

David Cunniff returns for his eighth season as assistant coach for <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong>’s top<br />

affiliate, the Worcester <strong>Sharks</strong>. Making his coaching debut seven seasons ago, Cunniff<br />

has played an integral role in assisting Head Coach Roy Sommer in all coaching duties<br />

including video breakdown, player assessment and scouting.<br />

Cunniff’s coaching efforts are primarily focused on the defensive end. His presence<br />

was pivotal in the rapid development of several defensemen including Christian Ehrhoff,<br />

Douglas Murray, Derek Joslin and Mike Moore. With a focus on player development, Cunniff assists in the <strong>Sharks</strong><br />

Summer Development Camp and the <strong>Sharks</strong> Rookie Tournament.<br />

For the past seven seasons, Cunniff has been an instructor at the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Jose</strong> <strong>Sharks</strong> Summer Hockey School. By<br />

doing so, he has shared his expertise with more than 1,000 campers ranging from age six to adult.<br />

The son of the late <strong>NHL</strong> veteran and U.S. Olympic Team Coach John Cunniff, David played eight seasons of<br />

professional hockey in the American and East Coast Hockey Leagues. That stint included playing two seasons under<br />

his father with the American Hockey League’’s Albany River Rats (1998-00). After a one-year hiatus, he concluded<br />

his playing career in the 2001-02 season with Louisiana and Richmond in the ECHL. In 268 AHL and ECHL games,<br />

Cunniff scored 82 points (38 goals and 44 assists) and posted 555 penalty minutes.<br />

The South Boston native played his college hockey at Salem State College and currently resides in Milton, Mass.<br />

with his wife Mary-Ann and their two sons, Patrick and David.<br />

WORCESTER SHARKS<br />

Matthew White<br />

Head Athletic Trainer<br />

Matthew White enters his ninth season in the AHL and his fourth with the<br />

Worcester <strong>Sharks</strong> as head athletic trainer.<br />

A graduate of University of New Hampshire and Boston University, White joined<br />

the <strong>Sharks</strong> after a spending a year with intercollegiate athletes at Boston University.<br />

Before working at BU, he was the head athletic trainer for the American Hockey<br />

League’s Cincinnati Mighty Ducks for five seasons. White has also served as an<br />

athletic trainer at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester.<br />

During the offseason, White directs his own strength and conditioning program for junior and high school<br />

aged athletes throughout Central Massachusetts at the DCU Center.<br />

White currently lives in Holden, Mass. with his wife Kim and their three children: Abigail, Eloise and Evelyn.<br />

Jaime Rodriguez<br />

Strength and Conditioning Assistant<br />

Jaime Rodriguez enters his third season as Worcester’s strength and<br />

conditioning assistant. Rodriguez will be working part time with Head Athletic<br />

Trainer Matt White to help with the growth and development of the <strong>Sharks</strong> prospects<br />

in Worcester.<br />

Rodriguez, a 2003 graduate of Lasell College, is the program director, head<br />

strength coach and personal trainer at Mike Boyles Strength and Conditioning. Most<br />

recently, Rodriguez served as assistant strength and conditioning coordinator for the 2007 Anaheim Ducks<br />

Prospect Camp.<br />

Rodriguez is a native of The Bronx, N.Y. and currently lives in Arlington, Mass. with his wife Juliana and their<br />

son Jayden.<br />
