PROCTORING<br />

In order to validate student identity for all online courses, students<br />

enrolled in online courses at Oconee Fall Line <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

are required to complete one proctored event (a major exam,<br />

assignment, or presentation.)The event will be reflected as part <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> grading scale on <strong>the</strong> course syllabus. Proctored events must<br />

be completed by <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficial Final Exams period.<br />

The proctored event may be administered at an <strong>OFTC</strong><br />

assessment center and will be monitored by an <strong>OFTC</strong> employee.<br />

The proctored event may also be sch<strong>edu</strong>led through <strong>the</strong> instructor<br />

at <strong>the</strong> instructor’s home campus and will be monitored by <strong>the</strong><br />

instructor. Students must attend <strong>the</strong> proctored session as<br />

sch<strong>edu</strong>led via <strong>the</strong> Assessment page <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>OFTC</strong> website.<br />

The site and <strong>the</strong> proctor must meet <strong>OFTC</strong>’s requirements.<br />

Students arranging proctoring on a non-<strong>OFTC</strong> site must take <strong>the</strong><br />

event during <strong>the</strong> same time frame established by <strong>the</strong> instructor for<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r class members.<br />

Students who do not complete <strong>the</strong> proctored event will receive a<br />

WF.<br />

Admission Process<br />

The proc<strong>edu</strong>res for admissions are:<br />

• Complete and submit <strong>the</strong> online application form to GVTC —<br />

www.gvtc.org<br />

• Print <strong>the</strong> application, sign it, and mail to college <strong>of</strong> choice with<br />

a non-refundable $20 application fee.<br />

• Submit high school transcript.<br />

• Submit technical school, and/or college transcript.<br />

• Submit assessment test scores within <strong>the</strong> last five (5) years.<br />

These may be COMPASS, ASSET, SAT, or ACT. Students<br />

with a score <strong>of</strong> 235 which indicate Advanced Pr<strong>of</strong>iciency or<br />

Honors Level on <strong>the</strong> English/Language Arts portion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Georgia High School Graduation Test may be exempt from<br />

placement testing in reading and writing only for technical<br />

certificates <strong>of</strong> credit and diploma programs <strong>of</strong> study.<br />

• For transient students only, present <strong>the</strong> appropriate transient<br />

correspondence to <strong>the</strong> host school.<br />

• Students must be sixteen (16) years <strong>of</strong> age or older.<br />

Student Responsibilities<br />

• If <strong>the</strong> student is a transient, it is <strong>the</strong> student’s responsibility<br />

to contact his/her advisor for permission to be a transient<br />

student before applying to GVTC.<br />

• It is <strong>the</strong> student’s responsibility to ensure that <strong>the</strong>y have<br />

access to a computer that meets <strong>the</strong> minimum hardware/<br />

s<strong>of</strong>tware requirements to participate in an online course.<br />

• It is <strong>the</strong> student’s responsibility to purchase his/her textbooks<br />

or needed supplies. The course instructor may assist <strong>the</strong><br />

student.<br />

• Transient <strong>OFTC</strong> students not taking online courses must<br />

complete a Transient Request Form in <strong>the</strong> Admissions Office.<br />

Readmission Requirements<br />

Students who have withdrawn from <strong>the</strong> institution, ei<strong>the</strong>r<br />

voluntarily or involuntarily, and desire to be readmitted, must<br />

complete a readmit form in <strong>the</strong> Admissions Office. Students who<br />

have attended ano<strong>the</strong>r postsecondary institution must request<br />

that an <strong>of</strong>ficial transcript <strong>of</strong> all academic work be sent to <strong>the</strong><br />

Admissions Office at Oconee Fall Line <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Readmissions Steps:<br />

• Complete an application for readmission; no fee required for<br />

former students.<br />

• Meet admissions requirements in place at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong><br />

reapplication.<br />

A student who has been dismissed for unsatisfactory academic<br />

progress must refer to <strong>the</strong> academic progress policy and<br />

proc<strong>edu</strong>re found later in this handbook.<br />

A student suspended for a disciplinary reason may be considered<br />

for readmission at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> suspension by making an<br />

appointment with <strong>the</strong> Vice President for Academic/Student Affairs.<br />

Readmission to a program will be granted on a space-available<br />

basis within <strong>the</strong> appropriate course sequence. A student will be<br />

required to complete <strong>the</strong> curriculum requirements in place at <strong>the</strong><br />

time <strong>of</strong> re-enrollment.<br />

If a student has been expelled or suspended three times from<br />

<strong>the</strong> same or different colleges in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> System <strong>of</strong><br />

Georgia in <strong>the</strong> past seven years, <strong>the</strong> student may not be permitted<br />

to register at any college in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> System <strong>of</strong><br />

Georgia for a period <strong>of</strong> ten years after <strong>the</strong> most recent expulsion/<br />

suspension.<br />

Due to <strong>the</strong> rapid changes in technology and technical information,<br />

program specific technical courses should be taken within <strong>the</strong> last<br />

36 months in order to be considered valid for graduation purposes<br />

from <strong>OFTC</strong>. A student desiring consideration <strong>of</strong> credit <strong>of</strong> technical<br />

courses or experiences that are more than 36 months old can<br />

request credit by exemption testing.<br />

Admission Categories<br />

Regular Status<br />

Regular admission <strong>of</strong> students to a degree, diploma or certificate<br />

program is contingent upon <strong>the</strong>ir meeting statewide and/or college<br />

requirements established for a specific program. In addition,<br />

<strong>the</strong> applicants must complete all application, assessment, and<br />

placement proc<strong>edu</strong>res prior to enrollment.<br />

Regular admission status is based upon <strong>the</strong> credential (degree,<br />

diploma, or technical certificate <strong>of</strong> credit) being sought by <strong>the</strong><br />

student. Any change in <strong>the</strong> credential being sought shall require
