Allied Health Programs Specific Admissions<br />
Requirements<br />
Competitive Allied Health Programs<br />
Applications to compete must be completed no later than <strong>the</strong><br />
specified deadline. Students without an application on file in<br />
<strong>the</strong> Admissions <strong>of</strong>fice will NOT be considered for competition.<br />
Applications signify that <strong>the</strong> student (1) has completed or will<br />
complete <strong>the</strong> designated courses, (2) will finish <strong>the</strong> specialization<br />
courses prior to entry, (3) has registered for and will complete<br />
PSB test prior to <strong>the</strong> beginning <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> semester that <strong>the</strong> student<br />
would enter <strong>the</strong> program, (4) understands <strong>the</strong> competitive process<br />
including deadlines for work experience forms and <strong>of</strong>ficial college<br />
transcripts. If designated core courses and additional curriculum/<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r requirements listed are not completed by <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> term<br />
prior to <strong>the</strong> term <strong>of</strong> entry, <strong>the</strong> application will not be considered.<br />
The student is responsible for <strong>the</strong> payment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> drug screen<br />
fee and criminal background check fee that will be assessed<br />
when students register for classes with such requirements. All<br />
newly accepted students will be required to attend an orientation<br />
session prior to <strong>the</strong> beginning <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> program.<br />
Diploma Programs<br />
Practical Nursing<br />
Only <strong>the</strong> designated courses will be used towards GPA<br />
ranking. However, <strong>the</strong> entire Nurse Aide <strong>Technical</strong><br />
Certificate <strong>of</strong> Credit including NAST 1100 or current<br />
Georgia Nurse Aide Registry must be completed prior to<br />
acceptance into <strong>the</strong> program for Practical Nursing.<br />
Associate Degree <strong>of</strong> Applied Science<br />
Programs<br />
Radiologic Technology<br />
The Radiologic Technology Associate Degree program<br />
is competitive and designated courses, and additional<br />
courses, must be completed before entering <strong>the</strong><br />
program. Students must complete <strong>the</strong> Imaging Science<br />
Assistant <strong>Technical</strong> Certificate <strong>of</strong> Credit prior to entry into<br />
program courses.<br />
Non Competitive Allied Health Programs<br />
Students must complete an application to compete for <strong>the</strong>ir name<br />
to be placed on <strong>the</strong> list <strong>of</strong> potential program students. Students<br />
without an application on file will NOT be considered for program<br />
courses. Applications signify that <strong>the</strong> student has completed<br />
or will complete <strong>the</strong> designated courses and understands <strong>the</strong><br />
deadlines for <strong>of</strong>ficial college transcripts. If more students apply to<br />
compete than <strong>the</strong>re are seats available, <strong>the</strong> competitive process is<br />
followed with <strong>the</strong> exception <strong>of</strong> PSB testing. All expiration policies<br />
apply regardless <strong>of</strong> whe<strong>the</strong>r or not a program is competitive.<br />
Diploma Programs<br />
Medical Assisting<br />
Students must take <strong>the</strong> following designated courses<br />
(ENGL 1010, MATH 1012, PSYC 1010, ALHS 1011,<br />
ALHS 1040, ALHS 1090, and COMP 1000) prior to<br />
taking medical assisting occupational classes<br />
Pharmacy Technology<br />
Students must take <strong>the</strong> following designated courses<br />
(ENGL 1010, ALHS 1011, ALHS 1040, COMP 1000,<br />
PSYC 1010, MATH 1012, and ALHS 1090) prior to taking<br />
pharmacy occupational classes.<br />
Paramedicine<br />
Students must take <strong>the</strong> following designated courses<br />
(MATH 1012, ALHS 1090, and ALHS 1011) prior to<br />
taking paramedic technology occupation courses and<br />
also complete <strong>the</strong> EMT certification.<br />
Associate Degree <strong>of</strong> Applied Science<br />
Programs<br />
Respiratory Care<br />
Students must take <strong>the</strong> following designated courses<br />
(ENGL 1101, ENGL 2130, MATH 1111, COMP 1000,<br />
BIOL 2113/2113L, BIOL 2114/2114L, BIOL 2117/2117L,<br />
CHEM 1211/1211, PHYS 1110/1110L and PSYC 1101)<br />
prior to taking respiratory occupational classes.<br />
Competitive Admissions Requirements<br />
Following <strong>the</strong> successful completion (a grade <strong>of</strong> “C” or better)<br />
<strong>of</strong> all designated courses students will enter into a competitive<br />
process for determining eligibility to progress into occupational<br />
program courses. The formula used for <strong>the</strong> competitive process<br />
is: Total score = (designated courses GPA x 65%) + (PSB x 35%)<br />
+ possible bonus points.<br />
Students must complete <strong>the</strong> Competitive Admissions Application<br />
by <strong>the</strong> admission deadline to be considered for <strong>the</strong> program.<br />
• The Psychological Services Bureau Aptitude exam (PSB)<br />
is an additional requirement. The test may be taken only<br />
twice per academic year, but students must wait 30 days<br />
before retesting. The test must be taken and scored prior<br />
to acceptance. The highest overall score will be used in <strong>the</strong><br />
competitive process. The PSB must be taken within <strong>the</strong> last<br />
year for <strong>the</strong> scores to be considered for admission purposes.<br />
