Allied Health Programs Specific Admissions
Requirements
Competitive Allied Health Programs
Applications to compete must be completed no later than the
specified deadline. Students without an application on file in
the Admissions office will NOT be considered for competition.
Applications signify that the student (1) has completed or will
complete the designated courses, (2) will finish the specialization
courses prior to entry, (3) has registered for and will complete
PSB test prior to the beginning of the semester that the student
would enter the program, (4) understands the competitive process
including deadlines for work experience forms and official college
transcripts. If designated core courses and additional curriculum/
other requirements listed are not completed by the end of the term
prior to the term of entry, the application will not be considered.
The student is responsible for the payment of the drug screen
fee and criminal background check fee that will be assessed
when students register for classes with such requirements. All
newly accepted students will be required to attend an orientation
session prior to the beginning of the program.
Diploma Programs
Practical Nursing
Only the designated courses will be used towards GPA
ranking. However, the entire Nurse Aide Technical
Certificate of Credit including NAST 1100 or current
Georgia Nurse Aide Registry must be completed prior to
acceptance into the program for Practical Nursing.
Associate Degree of Applied Science
Programs
Radiologic Technology
The Radiologic Technology Associate Degree program
is competitive and designated courses, and additional
courses, must be completed before entering the
program. Students must complete the Imaging Science
Assistant Technical Certificate of Credit prior to entry into
program courses.
Non Competitive Allied Health Programs
Students must complete an application to compete for their name
to be placed on the list of potential program students. Students
without an application on file will NOT be considered for program
courses. Applications signify that the student has completed
or will complete the designated courses and understands the
deadlines for official college transcripts. If more students apply to
compete than there are seats available, the competitive process is
followed with the exception of PSB testing. All expiration policies
apply regardless of whether or not a program is competitive.
Diploma Programs
Medical Assisting
Students must take the following designated courses
(ENGL 1010, MATH 1012, PSYC 1010, ALHS 1011,
ALHS 1040, ALHS 1090, and COMP 1000) prior to
taking medical assisting occupational classes
Pharmacy Technology
Students must take the following designated courses
(ENGL 1010, ALHS 1011, ALHS 1040, COMP 1000,
PSYC 1010, MATH 1012, and ALHS 1090) prior to taking
pharmacy occupational classes.
Paramedicine
Students must take the following designated courses
(MATH 1012, ALHS 1090, and ALHS 1011) prior to
taking paramedic technology occupation courses and
also complete the EMT certification.
Associate Degree of Applied Science
Programs
Respiratory Care
Students must take the following designated courses
(ENGL 1101, ENGL 2130, MATH 1111, COMP 1000,
BIOL 2113/2113L, BIOL 2114/2114L, BIOL 2117/2117L,
CHEM 1211/1211, PHYS 1110/1110L and PSYC 1101)
prior to taking respiratory occupational classes.
Competitive Admissions Requirements
Following the successful completion (a grade of “C” or better)
of all designated courses students will enter into a competitive
process for determining eligibility to progress into occupational
program courses. The formula used for the competitive process
is: Total score = (designated courses GPA x 65%) + (PSB x 35%)
+ possible bonus points.
Students must complete the Competitive Admissions Application
by the admission deadline to be considered for the program.
• The Psychological Services Bureau Aptitude exam (PSB)
is an additional requirement. The test may be taken only
twice per academic year, but students must wait 30 days
before retesting. The test must be taken and scored prior
to acceptance. The highest overall score will be used in the
competitive process. The PSB must be taken within the last
year for the scores to be considered for admission purposes.
