• Earn a score <strong>of</strong> at least an “80”.<br />

• A student cannot exempt more than 50% <strong>of</strong> program<br />

requirements. A grade <strong>of</strong> “EX” will be entered on <strong>the</strong><br />

permanent record if <strong>the</strong> exemption exam is successfully<br />

completed. The hours for <strong>the</strong> exempted grades will not<br />

be computed in <strong>the</strong> grade point average which may affect<br />

financial aid status and/or eligibility for <strong>the</strong> President’s or<br />

Dean’s List. Exemption exams may NOT be taken more<br />

than once. If a student takes an exemption exam and does<br />

not make <strong>the</strong> required score, <strong>the</strong> student is required to take<br />

<strong>the</strong> course to receive course credit. A student competing for<br />

admissions to a competitive program may only exempt two<br />

courses.<br />

Standardized Exam Credit<br />

Oconee Fall Line Tech will award credit based on nationally<br />

normed exams including:<br />

• CLEP - Credit will be awarded for successful completion <strong>of</strong><br />

any appropriate CLEP (<strong>College</strong> Level Examination Program)<br />

subject area examinations. Credit will be awarded based<br />

on score recommendations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Council on <strong>College</strong> Level<br />

Services.<br />

• Advanced Placement Examinations - Credit will be<br />

awarded to students who have taken appropriate courses<br />

(determined equivalent to courses <strong>of</strong>fered at a <strong>Technical</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong>) in high school and achieve a score <strong>of</strong> 3 or more<br />

on <strong>the</strong> Advanced Placement Examination. The Advanced<br />

Placement Examinations are <strong>of</strong>fered by <strong>the</strong> <strong>College</strong> Entrance<br />

Examination Board.<br />

• Pr<strong>of</strong>essional certification -- <strong>OFTC</strong> will consider awarding<br />

credit when a pr<strong>of</strong>essional certification is held that is<br />

equivalent to <strong>the</strong> course competencies. The certification must<br />

be up to date and require <strong>the</strong> demonstration <strong>of</strong> knowledge<br />

or skills comparable to those attained by students who have<br />

completed <strong>the</strong> <strong>OFTC</strong> course.<br />

• Military Training Credit – <strong>OFTC</strong> may award credit for<br />

training received in <strong>the</strong> Armed Forces. The training should<br />

be certified by <strong>the</strong> Guide to <strong>the</strong> Evaluation <strong>of</strong> Education<br />

Experiences in <strong>the</strong> Armed Services, published by <strong>the</strong><br />

American Council on Education or by <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficial catalog<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Community <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Air Force or some similar<br />

document. Credit will be given when training experience<br />

meets required competencies <strong>of</strong> courses <strong>of</strong>fered at <strong>the</strong><br />

institution. Oconee Fall Line <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> is a member<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Service Members Opportunity <strong>College</strong>s (SOC).<br />

Residency Requirement<br />

Oconee Fall Line <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> will award degrees, diplomas,<br />

and certificates only to those students who have earned at least<br />

25% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> work through instruction <strong>of</strong>fered at <strong>OFTC</strong>. Due to <strong>the</strong><br />

rapid changes in technology and technical information, program<br />

specific technical courses will be considered valid if coursework<br />

has been completed at <strong>OFTC</strong> or <strong>the</strong> former Heart <strong>of</strong> Georgia<br />

<strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> or Sandersville <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> within <strong>the</strong> last<br />

10 years. A student desiring consideration <strong>of</strong> credit for technical<br />

courses or experiences that are more than 10 years old can<br />

request transfer credit by exemption testing.<br />

Students in certain allied health programs which require licensure<br />

or certification examinations must complete at least fifty percent<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> credit hours <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> required curriculum for graduation in<br />

residency at Oconee Fall Line <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Double Majors<br />

Oconee Fall Line <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> does not allow a student<br />

to enroll in two different programs at <strong>the</strong> same time unless <strong>the</strong><br />

program is a technical certificate <strong>of</strong> credit embedded in a diploma<br />

or degree. Oconee Fall Line <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong>’s proc<strong>edu</strong>re is that<br />

a student must complete all requirements for one program before<br />

applying and being accepted into ano<strong>the</strong>r program.<br />

Change <strong>of</strong> Program<br />

Students desiring to change <strong>the</strong>ir program <strong>of</strong> study must complete<br />

<strong>the</strong> appropriate forms prior to <strong>the</strong> start <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> semester in which<br />

<strong>the</strong> program change is desired and meet all <strong>the</strong> admissions<br />

standards for <strong>the</strong>ir new program <strong>of</strong> study. If <strong>the</strong> program to which<br />

<strong>the</strong> student is attempting to transfer has additional admissions<br />

requirements, <strong>the</strong> student must complete <strong>the</strong> requirements and<br />

will be admitted on a first-admitted, first-qualified basis. Students<br />

changing to an Associate <strong>of</strong> Applied Science Degree should<br />

complete a change <strong>of</strong> program form by midterm.<br />

Change <strong>of</strong> Address/Name<br />

Students are responsible for notifying <strong>the</strong> Registrar’s Office<br />

<strong>of</strong> any change <strong>of</strong> address or name change. <strong>OFTC</strong> will mail<br />

all notices and <strong>of</strong>ficial correspondence to <strong>the</strong> last address on<br />

<strong>the</strong> student’s record which <strong>the</strong>n constitutes <strong>of</strong>ficial notification.<br />

Students should complete and sign <strong>the</strong> Information Change<br />

Request on <strong>the</strong> <strong>OFTC</strong> web site.
