Verification <strong>of</strong> Lawful Presence in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Unit</strong>ed<br />

States<br />

Effective January 1, 2012, all students applying for in-state tuition<br />

must provide validation <strong>of</strong> lawful presence in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Unit</strong>ed States.<br />

The following documents will serve as pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> lawful presence<br />

in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Unit</strong>ed States and documentation will be required for<br />

consideration <strong>of</strong> instate tuition:<br />

• A current Driver’s License issued by <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> Georgia<br />

after January 1, 2008<br />

• A current ID issued by <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> Georgia after January 1,<br />

2008<br />

• A Current Driver’s License <strong>of</strong> ID Issued by a state that<br />

verified immigration status and only Issues to persons<br />

lawfully present in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Unit</strong>ed States See a list <strong>of</strong><br />

• A certified U.S. Birth Certificate showing <strong>the</strong> student was born<br />

in <strong>the</strong> U.S. or a U.S. territory. A photocopy is not acceptable.<br />

• An approved completed FAFSA for <strong>the</strong> current financial aid<br />

year.<br />

• A current, valid Permanent Resident Care (USCIS form I-151<br />

<strong>of</strong> I-551)<br />

• A U.S. Certificate <strong>of</strong> Birth Abroad issued by <strong>the</strong> Department<br />

<strong>of</strong> State (DS-1350) or a Consular Report <strong>of</strong> Birth Abroad (FS-<br />

240).<br />

• A current U.S. Passport<br />

• A U.S. Certificate <strong>of</strong> Citizenship (USCIS form N-560 or N-561)<br />

• A U.S. Certificate <strong>of</strong> Naturalization (USCIS form N-550 or<br />

N-570)<br />

Any student who cannot be verified as lawfully present in <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Unit</strong>ed States is not eligible to be considered for In-state tuition,<br />

regardless <strong>of</strong> how long he or she has lived in Georgia. In addition<br />

to being lawfully present in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Unit</strong>ed States, students must meet<br />

<strong>the</strong> in-state tuition requirements as outlined in <strong>the</strong> TCSG Policy<br />

and Proc<strong>edu</strong>re VB3 to warrant an in-state classification. Students<br />

that are initially classified as out-<strong>of</strong>-state and successfully petition<br />

to have <strong>the</strong>ir residency changes to in-state also have to meet <strong>the</strong><br />

verification requirement.<br />

Waiver <strong>of</strong> Student Tuition and Fees<br />

The Commissioner <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> System <strong>of</strong> Georgia<br />

may develop proc<strong>edu</strong>res authorizing <strong>the</strong> waiver <strong>of</strong> student tuition<br />

or fees upon good cause. Tuition may be waived for Eligible<br />

Non-Citizen Students and Out <strong>of</strong> State Students, normally on a<br />

semester-by-semester basis, by <strong>the</strong> President. The number <strong>of</strong><br />

waivers shall not exceed two percent <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> head count <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

student enrollment at <strong>the</strong> technical college in <strong>the</strong> immediately<br />

preceding Fall Semester. Any student receiving a tuition waiver<br />

may pay <strong>the</strong> in-state tuition rate, but is not eligible for <strong>the</strong> HOPE<br />

program. Non-Citizen Students may qualify for a waiver <strong>of</strong> tuition<br />

and fees such that <strong>the</strong>y pay <strong>the</strong> same tuition rate as an Out <strong>of</strong><br />

State Student.<br />

Senior Citizens<br />

Georgia Students over sixty-two (62) years <strong>of</strong> age who are<br />

o<strong>the</strong>rwise qualified may attend technical colleges, for credit<br />

courses only, without charge or payment <strong>of</strong> tuition on a space<br />

available basis.<br />

PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE<br />

All Allied Health, Early Childhood Education, and Cosmetology<br />

students are required to obtain pr<strong>of</strong>essional and personal liability<br />

insurance for coverage in <strong>the</strong> internship, clinical <strong>edu</strong>cation and<br />

training areas that are a required part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se programs<br />

BOOKS, SUPPLIES, AND UNIFORMS<br />

Each student is required to have books, tools and uniforms, and<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r equipment appropriate to <strong>the</strong> program <strong>of</strong> study. All required<br />

books and many <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> student’s o<strong>the</strong>r needs may be purchased<br />

in <strong>the</strong> campus bookstore. Information regarding approximate<br />

program costs can be found in <strong>the</strong> Admissions Office.<br />

GRADUATION FEE<br />

Graduation applications will be accepted in <strong>the</strong> Registrar’s <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

Students should see <strong>the</strong>ir advisor one semester before graduation<br />

is planned for graduation information. Graduation fees are nonrefundable.<br />

There is a replacement cost for lost degree, diploma<br />

or certificate <strong>of</strong> credit. Only students participating in <strong>the</strong> ceremony<br />

are required to pay <strong>the</strong> graduation fee.<br />

EXEMPTION EXAM FEE<br />

A student desiring to take an exemption exam must pay an<br />

exemption test fee per test. The fee must be paid in advance.<br />

This fee is nonrefundable and not transferable. Students taking<br />

<strong>the</strong> exemption test to validate secondary coursework do not pay<br />

<strong>the</strong> exam fee.<br />

PSB EXAM FEE<br />

Students taking <strong>the</strong> PSB exam will be required to pay $35.00<br />

for each test as a cost recovery fee. This fee must be paid in<br />

advance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> test date.<br />

RETURNED CHECK CHARGE<br />

Any student who presents a personal check to Oconee Fall Line<br />

<strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> in which payment is refused by <strong>the</strong> bank will be<br />

charged a returned check fee.<br />

Financial Obligations<br />

Students who are delinquent in <strong>the</strong> payment <strong>of</strong> any financial<br />

obligation(s) may be removed from one or all courses and will not<br />

be allowed to register for ano<strong>the</strong>r semester until all delinquent<br />

fees are paid. In addition, students will not be issued grade<br />

reports, transcripts, or o<strong>the</strong>r student records until all delinquent<br />

fees are paid.
