Refund Policy<br />

Students who <strong>of</strong>ficially withdraw from a course by <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

third instructional day <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> semester will receive no grade for <strong>the</strong><br />

course and will receive a 100% refund <strong>of</strong> applicable tuition and<br />

refundable fees. Students who withdraw from a course after <strong>the</strong><br />

end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> third instructional day <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> semester shall receive an<br />

appropriate W grade and shall receive no refund <strong>of</strong> tuition and<br />

fees. Refunds, when due, will be made by check to <strong>the</strong> address<br />

shown as <strong>the</strong> student’s <strong>of</strong>ficial home <strong>of</strong> record on <strong>the</strong> student<br />

record, within 30 days <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> last day <strong>of</strong> a student’s attendance<br />

if written notification has been provided by <strong>the</strong> student, or from<br />

<strong>the</strong> date <strong>the</strong> <strong>College</strong> terminates or determines withdrawal by<br />

<strong>the</strong> student in lieu <strong>of</strong> written notification. Students should notify<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir instructor to formally withdraw from a course or <strong>the</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Financial aid recipients, please refer to <strong>the</strong> financial aid policy.<br />

REFUNDS OF TEXT BOOKS<br />

Refunds will be issued for textbooks if <strong>the</strong> student has a receipt<br />

from <strong>the</strong> bookstore, <strong>the</strong> refund is requested within 5 class days<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> date on <strong>the</strong> receipt, and <strong>the</strong> book is not written in and is in<br />

perfect condition.<br />

Financial Aid Information<br />

Oconee Fall Line <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers a comprehensive<br />

program <strong>of</strong> financial aid for students enrolled to earn a degree,<br />

diploma or a certificate. The various financial aid programs are<br />

funded by Federal and state funds.<br />

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS<br />

To qualify for Federal financial aid (Pell Grant, FSEOG, and<br />

FWS), a student must complete and sign a Free Application for<br />

Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually and provide <strong>the</strong> financial<br />

aid <strong>of</strong>fice with verification documentation as required. A student<br />

must also:<br />

• Have a high school diploma, a GED, or meet <strong>the</strong> Ability to<br />

Benefit requirements<br />

• Be registered with Selective Service, if required<br />

• Be a U.S. Citizen or an eligible non-citizen<br />

• Be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program<br />

• Not be in default on a student loan nor owe a refund on a<br />

Title IV program<br />

• Be making satisfactory academic progress in accordance<br />

with policy<br />

• Be a legal Georgia resident for state aid<br />

• Have a valid social security number<br />

• Have resolved any drug conviction issue according to state<br />

and Federal regulations<br />

Types Of Financial Aid<br />

TITLE IV FUNDS<br />

Title IV Funds equire <strong>the</strong> completion <strong>of</strong> a FAFSA and enrollment<br />

in an eligible degree, diploma or certain certificate programs.<br />

Each course within all <strong>of</strong> <strong>OFTC</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong>’s diploma/<br />

certificate level programs is acceptable for full credit toward<br />

General Elective hours for <strong>the</strong> Associate Degree <strong>of</strong> Applied<br />

Science in Accounting degree.<br />

Federal PELL Grant<br />

The Federal Pell Grant is a Title IV Program, based on need,<br />

for full-time and part-time students enrolled in a Title IV eligible<br />

program, who have not previously earned a bachelor’s degree.<br />

The student does not normally repay Pell Grant. The amount<br />

<strong>of</strong> Pell awarded is based on <strong>the</strong> Expected Family Contribution<br />

(EFC) shown on <strong>the</strong> student’s SAR/ISIR (which is <strong>the</strong> result <strong>of</strong><br />

completing a Federal Financial Aid Form - FAFSA), <strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong><br />

attendance, and <strong>the</strong> student’s enrollment and class load each<br />

semester.<br />

Students receive <strong>the</strong>ir Pell Grant awards on a semester basis.<br />

The Pell award is available to help pay for book costs and tuition<br />

not covered by o<strong>the</strong>r sources and <strong>the</strong> amount remaining is paid<br />

to <strong>the</strong> student after balancing is complete for each term. If <strong>the</strong><br />

student totally withdraws from school during a semester, <strong>the</strong> Pell<br />

award amount for <strong>the</strong> withdrawal term is adjusted, according to<br />

Federal Financial Aid policy, by multiplying <strong>the</strong> percentage <strong>of</strong> days<br />

attended times by <strong>the</strong> Pell Award. Pell may be applied for via <strong>the</strong><br />

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) ei<strong>the</strong>r online at<br />

www.fafsa.gov or by completing paper application and returning to<br />

<strong>the</strong> FAO or mailing <strong>the</strong> form to <strong>the</strong> Federal Student Aid Programs,<br />

POB 7001, Mt. Vernon, Ill. 62864-0071.<br />

FWS (Federal Work Study)<br />

FWS is a Title IV Program awarded on a first-come, first-served<br />

basis to <strong>the</strong> neediest students. Title IV eligible students are<br />

awarded <strong>the</strong> maximum amount <strong>the</strong>y can earn; however, <strong>the</strong><br />

actual amount <strong>the</strong>y receive is calculated by <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> hours<br />

<strong>the</strong>y actually work times accepted wage. Normally FWS jobs<br />

are on campus and students can only work hours <strong>the</strong>y are NOT<br />

sch<strong>edu</strong>led to be in class. FWS cannot be used for internship<br />

credit. Students must submit a FWS Application to <strong>the</strong> Student<br />

Affairs Office and be interviewed by a potential supervisor prior<br />

to beginning work. FWS students are paid monthly for <strong>the</strong> actual<br />

hours worked.<br />

Federal Supplemental Educational<br />

Opportunity Grant (SEOG)<br />

SEOG is a Title IV need based grant given to students with <strong>the</strong><br />

lowest EFC who receive Pell. FSEOG is awarded on a first-come,<br />

first-served basis.
