any employee or student. Reimbursement to <strong>of</strong>fset <strong>the</strong> costs <strong>of</strong><br />
ingredients used to prepare <strong>the</strong> item(s) for sale is authorized.<br />
Student organizations are subject to <strong>the</strong> following restrictions<br />
using funds:<br />
The Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs must<br />
approve all fund raisers.<br />
No organization shall have <strong>the</strong> right to disturb or infringe upon<br />
<strong>the</strong> privacy <strong>of</strong> students. Disturbing or interrupting <strong>the</strong> conduct<br />
<strong>of</strong> classes for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> raising funds is considered<br />
inappropriate. Students will not be released from class to<br />
purchase items for sale.<br />
• All fundraising events must be sch<strong>edu</strong>led at least two weeks<br />
in advance by completing a fund raising form.<br />
• Organizations may sponsor bake sales or o<strong>the</strong>r events/<br />
contests to raise funds, but under no circumstance should<br />
<strong>the</strong>y contact area business and industry for donations.<br />
• Upon completion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sale, <strong>the</strong> responsible individual/<br />
organization will ensure that all college resources used to<br />
support <strong>the</strong> sale are cleaned and returned to <strong>the</strong>ir original<br />
condition.<br />
• The organization must deposit all monies raised through<br />
approved fund raising activities immediately with <strong>the</strong><br />
Business Office.<br />
Student Organizations Proc<strong>edu</strong>re<br />
Worthy organizations may be established and operate within <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong>; however, it is <strong>the</strong> policy <strong>of</strong> Oconee Fall Line <strong>Technical</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong> that <strong>the</strong> guidelines below are adhered to:<br />
1. All organizations functioning within any division <strong>of</strong> <strong>OFTC</strong> will<br />
operate under <strong>the</strong> sanction, knowledge, advisement, and<br />
approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Deans for Student Affairs, Vice President for<br />
Academic and Student Affairs, and <strong>the</strong> President.<br />
Student Recognition and Awards<br />
The EAGLE (Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education)<br />
program, under <strong>the</strong> auspices <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> System <strong>of</strong><br />
Georgia Office <strong>of</strong> Adult Education, is <strong>the</strong> only statewide program in <strong>the</strong><br />
nation that recognizes <strong>the</strong> outstanding achievements <strong>of</strong> GED students.<br />
During summer semester, <strong>OFTC</strong> Adult Education instructors nominate<br />
students from <strong>the</strong> following areas – EAGLE GED student and EAGLE<br />
GED graduate. These students participate in local competition and<br />
<strong>the</strong> winner travels to Atlanta in January to represent <strong>OFTC</strong> at <strong>the</strong><br />
statewide EAGLE Leadership Institute. The local winners also serve<br />
as ambassadors for <strong>the</strong> Adult Education program in <strong>the</strong> community<br />
during <strong>the</strong> following year.<br />
The GOAL (Georgia Occupational Award for Leadership) program<br />
is a prestigious recognition sponsored by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
System <strong>of</strong> Georgia and <strong>the</strong> Business Council <strong>of</strong> Georgia. Locally<br />
various civic clubs, businesses, and organizations sponsor <strong>the</strong><br />
program. The purpose <strong>of</strong> GOAL is to spotlight <strong>the</strong> importance <strong>of</strong><br />
technical <strong>edu</strong>cation in today’s world by recognizing outstanding<br />
students in Georgia’s technical colleges.<br />
Grades, attitude, personal goals, and self-confidence are<br />
considered in selecting GOAL winners, along with a speech<br />
written and presented by <strong>the</strong> student detailing what technical<br />
<strong>edu</strong>cation means to him or her. For additional information,<br />
contact <strong>the</strong> Special Populations Coordinator.<br />
Voter Registration<br />
In accordance with <strong>the</strong> 1998 Higher Education Act, Oconee<br />
Fall Line <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> makes a good-faith effort to assist<br />
students with voter registration. Students who need voter<br />
registration forms for general elections and special elections for<br />
Federal <strong>of</strong>fice, including elections for governor and o<strong>the</strong>r chief<br />
executives, may secure <strong>the</strong>se forms from <strong>the</strong> Dean <strong>of</strong> Student<br />
Affairs Office. <strong>OFTC</strong>’s Student Organizations also sponsor “Voter<br />
Registration Days.”<br />
2. No organization will be allowed to affect administrative or<br />
operational policies; however, organizations may function in<br />
an advisory capacity and <strong>the</strong>ir suggestions will be given due<br />
considerations.<br />
3. All organizations shall function under <strong>the</strong> direct supervision <strong>of</strong><br />
a faculty sponsor/advisor approved by <strong>the</strong> administration.<br />
4. Frequency and sch<strong>edu</strong>ling <strong>of</strong> meetings and fundraising<br />
projects <strong>of</strong> approved organizations must be cleared through<br />
<strong>the</strong> faculty sponsor. The faculty sponsor will seek approval<br />
from <strong>the</strong> appropriate supervisor.<br />
5. Fundraising projects must follow <strong>the</strong> guidelines outlined<br />
under <strong>the</strong> “Student Fundraising Policy.”
