Learning Community<br />

The Community for Success is a year-long fundamental<br />

skills learning community that integrates English with<br />

Student Success and Communication Studies classes.<br />

This linkage will share common goals and provide<br />

students with opportunities to develop strong<br />

writing, communication, study and life skills. Students<br />

in the Program enroll as a cohort in Fall 2011 and<br />

Spring <strong>2012</strong> courses.<br />

Concurrent and ongoing enrollment in all courses is<br />

required for participation.<br />

This course sharpens the focus on understanding and<br />

applying the fundamental principles of informative,<br />

persuasive and group presentations. Readings and<br />

assignments for this class are more rigorous than<br />

in the standard course. Through researching library<br />

and internet sources, giving individual speeches and<br />

participating in group presentations, students learn to<br />

excel in presenting information clearly, reasonably and<br />

persuasively.<br />
