All mathematics students should attend the first class meeting before purchasing course materials and textbooks. Many Math classes may require the purchase of an access code and
permanent registration to an online learning program within 10 days of the first day of class. Noncompliance with this requirement may result in the removal of student(s) from the course.
The program can be accessed in the Math Computer Lab, Student Computer Center or from your computer at home with high speed internet access.
PREREQUISITE
REQUIREMENTS
Some Math courses have mandatory
prerequisites. If you are planning to enroll
in one of these courses, you must meet
one of the following:
1. Your GWC placement test (results)
must recommend you for the class
(placement test scores are valid for
2 years from the original date of
the test)
Or
2. You must have completed the
prerequisite course with a grade of
“C” or better at GWC after 1989 or be
currently enrolled in it,
Or
3. You must have completed the
prerequisite course at another college
with a grade of “C” or better. To show
proof of the prerequisite completion,
bring a copy of your transcript or grade
report to the Admissions Office prior to
enrolling. Please allow 48 hours for
processing.
Students who have taken Mathematics
assessment tests at a California
community college within the last two
years may use those placement results
in lieu of assessment testing at Golden
West College. Such students should bring
their test results to the Assessment Center
for review.
Students wishing to challenge a
prerequisite or placement may contact
the Assessment Center for further
information. Prerequisite Challenge forms
can be obtained from the Assessment
Center. Instructions are provided on the
Challenge form.
