HERE ARE SOME IDEAS TO HELP
YOU GET THE CLASSES YOU NEED
NEW STUDENTS:
Apply Early - online at: www.goldenwestcollege.edu
If required, complete the online orientation.
RETURNING STUDENTS:
Check your MyGWC home page frequently for the following information:
• On the Student tab of your home page – select: REGISTRATION STATUS
• Clear HOLDS, if you owe fees pay them or take care of items
• Check your Registration appointment time and log in on time.
• Check web class schedule and class availability often
• Other information such as grades, announcements, email message(s), etc.
• If you need an assessment test, sign up sooner as opposed to later – (714) 895-8388.
• If you need a counseling appointment, make an appointment today – (714) 895-8799.
Helpful hints when a class is closed:
• Put yourself on the WaitList if space is available.
• Check your MyGWC account for up-to-date information on your WaitList status. Your WaitList placement will
change if students drop or are dropped for non-payment from the course.
• Check you STUDENT email account several times a day. If a seat opens up and you are notified of an opening in the
course, you only have a 24-hour window form the the time the notification is sent to ass the class. If you miss the
opportunity, you will be removed from the WaitList.
• Remember that classes do not always remain closed. Check the web schedule often to see if the class reopens.
• GO TO THE FIRST MEETING OF THE CLASS whether you are on the WaitList or if the WaitList was full. Instructors
may admit additional students if seats are available due to no-shows or drops.
Finances Tight
• Used Textbooks cost less than new, but they sell out early, so purchase yours sooner than later at the GWC
bookstore. Rent-A-Text is also a viable option.
• Financial aid, including student loans: File your application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
• GWC financial aid office – www.goldenwestcollege.edu/fao/
• Another source of information to check out – www.icanaffordcollege.com
• There are increased benefits for Veterans. Call our office at (714) 895-8140.
• You may meet the eligibility criteria for additional support services through:
ACE – (714) 895-8721
CalWORKs – (714) 895-8111
EOPs/CARE – (714) 895-8768/ (714) 895-8952
