No prior knowledge of Spanish is assumed. Begins to<br />

develop language competencies such as listening,<br />

WORLD LANGUAGES COURSE<br />

PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS<br />

Some Languages courses have mandatory prerequisites. If you are planning to enroll in<br />

one of these courses, you must meet one of the following:<br />

1. You must have completed the prerequisite course with a grade of “C” or better at GWC<br />

after 1989 or be currently enrolled in it,<br />

Or<br />

2. You must have completed the prerequisite course at another college with a grade<br />

of “C” or better. To show proof of the prerequisite completion, bring a copy of your<br />

transcript or grade report to the Admissions Office prior to enrolling. Please allow 48<br />

hours for processing.<br />

Or<br />

3. You must have completed with a grade of “C” or better, two (2) years of High School<br />

Language in the language you are enrolling in to be eligible for G185, three (3) years<br />

for G280 or four (4) years for G285. To show proof of completion, bring a copy of your<br />

High School transcript to the Admissions Office prior to enrolling. Please allow 48<br />

hours for processing.<br />

Students wishing to challenge a prerequisite or placement may contact the Assessment<br />

Center for further information. Prerequisite Challenge forms can be obtained from the<br />

Assessment Center. Instructions are provided on the Challenge form.<br />
