ONLINE MIX COURSES CLASSROOM AND INTERNET Online MIX courses reduce classroom/on campus time by adding Internet based instruction. Online MIX courses do have set days and times for weekly meeting on campus. ACCESS REQUIREMENTS Internet based instruction requires GWC students to have access to a computer with an Internet connection to the World Wide Web, whether off campus or on campus. OFF CAMPUS ACCESS Students who are currently earning units at Golden West College must have access to a multimedia computer with a 56K or faster modem and a full service connection to the Internet through a service provider such as, Earthlink, PacBell, AOL, or AT&T. ON CAMPUS ACCESS Internet access is available to Golden West College students at the Learning Resources Student Computer Center. This lab is hooked up to GWC's high speed network. If necessary, Learning Resources Student Computer Center staff will assist students in creating e-mail accounts. ONLINE COURSE INFORMATION ADDING A CLOSED ONLINE CLASS Students who are unable to enroll for a course that has closed prior to their registration appointment are encouraged to select an alternative online course in the event space does not become available in your first choice of class. The following are options students have to add an online course: • After you have completed the registration process, you may check back through our GWC searchable schedule to see if a seat may have become available due to a student withdrawal or due to a student being dropped for non-payment of fees. • For online mix classes, students may attend the first class meeting to see if any space is available as a result of student ‘no shows’. • For online only classes, students may contact the instructor to request permission to add their desired course.
