Committees on Evangelism to maintain active promotion of evangelistic
efforts within the congregations of their Presbytery. That
Sessions either activate or reactivate systematic evangelistic
visitation programs in each congregation. These programs are
to be reported on to this committee before the next meeting of
Synod.
Christian Education —
That Presbyteries in their reports to Synod indicate whether
or not they have a Committee ot Secretary of Christian Education,
and how many congregations have a Christian Education Com*
mittee. That sessions bring to the attention of their members
Chapter 5, sec. 1,2, of the Directory for Worship (Constitution
p. 320, 321) defining, stating the purpose, importance and frequency
of personal and family devotions, and that the sessions
analyze the devotional practices of their congregations taking
note of the Bible readers and other aids supplied by the Board of
Christian Education. That the book of Colossians be used for
Bible Mastery month in February, 1962.
Witness Committee —
That pastors preach on the subject of the exclusive use of
the Psalms in worship at least once during the year. That the
Sabbath prior to Memorial Day be Christian Amendment Sabbath
and that all pastors be urged to preach on the subject of the
nation's duty. That the men of the Church give serious consideration
to writing for publication by the Witness Committee.
Elders' Conference —
That the minimum salary for ministers be raised to $3,400
plus parsonage or $75 per month housing allowance plus $50 per
year per dependent child. Congregations are urged where possible
to increase their pastor's salary to meet higher standards of
living costs.
Board of Home Missions And Church Extension —
That congregations not now receiving financial aid, but unable
to meet the new minimum salary for their pastors, should
apply through their Presbyteries for sufficient assistance to pay
their pastors the minimum salary.
Board of Foreign Missions -
That the Board be authorized to make an appeal for an ordained
man to serve in Japan and for medical and agricultural
lay workers.
Coordinating Committee —
That Synod's Budget for 1961-1962 be set at $129,635.
