70 MINUTES OF THE SYNOD OF THE he was accompanied by Mr. Rex. W. Wilson, Executive Secretary of the Alumni Association. On the eastern trip he was also accompanied by the late Dr. C. Brainerd Metheny. On his trip south he was accompanied by Mrs. Clarke. Visits were made to many of the congregations of the Church and to a goodly number of Alumni Clubs. The members of the Faculty have been engaged in many forms of advanced study. Some are doing research, some have traveled and some are writing for publication. Both Faculty and administration personnel regularly attend meetings of their professional associations. The Reverend Carl J. Tanis, Executive Director of the Christian Life Missions, was on our campus as leader during Spiritual Emphasis Week. He spoke in Chapel and in the community and met with groups of students informally. The erection and improvement of buildings on the campus is continuing. The new Field House, which pleases all who see it, is practically completed and is in use. A one-room addition to the Science Hall has been completed and is in use. New fire-resistant stairs have been built in Old Main. Construction is in progress on newMen's and Women's Dormitories. An addition to the dining room, alterations to the kitchen and fire-resistant stairs are being provided at McKee Hall. About $782,000 out of the $1,250,000 goal of the Building Fund campaign has been paid or pledged. The balance is coming in from day to day and persistent and continued efforts are needed to complete our goal. We are pleased by the fact that an increasing number of our Alumni groups are holding club meetings in their communities throughout the nation. Here at the College, frequent events are planned to bring alumni, representatives of the Church, community friends, parents of students and others to the campus. The sudden death of Dr. C. Brainerd Metheny on October 19, I960 took away a personal friend and a very active and helpful member of our Board. His counsel and willing hand are greatly missed. He was a graduate of Geneva in the Class of 1911 and had served on the Board of Corporators for six years and on the Board of Trustees for twenty years. The enrollment during the present school year reached 876 in the day school and a total of 2,325 in all parts of the school. A total of about 196 seniors will be graduated during the year. The Reverend John Robertson Macartney, D.D. of Santa Barbara, California, delivered the Commencement Address at the June Commencement on June 6,1961. At this time the following honorary degrees were conferred:

Doctor of Humane Letters Mrs. Ethel M. Pritz, civic leader and philanthropist, Canton, Ohio. The Baccalaureate Sermon was delivered by the Reverend R. Paul Robb on Sabbath evening, June 4, 1961. The Reverend R. Paul Robb is pastor of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, California. It is requested that President Edwin C. Clarke be heard by the Synod on behalf of the College. The terms of the following members of the Board of Trustees expire at this time and their successors should be elected: Representing the Reformed Presbyterian Church: J. L. Coon, D.D.S. J. Merrill Robb The Rev. K. S. Edgar, D.D. The Rev. S. Bruce Willson, D.D. Miss Ethel M. Lytle R. Paul Wright, M.D. D. Ray Park Representing the Alumni Association: Mrs. Arthur C. Hoenstine Sidney L. Lockley Representing the Beaver Valley Community: W. Scott Bliss William R. Howell A successor should also be elected to fill the remaining year of the unexpired term of the late C. Brainerd Metheny, LL.D. The successful operation of Geneva College requires the working together of many people. The Board of Trustees wishes to express its appreciation to Dt. Clarke, the Faculty, the administration, the students and the Alumni. We ask the Lord to continue to direct us as we guide young men and young women intellectually, physically and spiritually as they prepare for lives of Christian service. J.
