Kültepe Kaniş – Karum kazılarının detaylarına girmeden
önce öğrenmek isterim. Şu an 4 ve 5 bin yıllık kültürleri
açığa çıkarıyorsunuz. Arkeoloji sürprizlere gebe; bir o
kadar heyacan ve emek yoğun bir bilim dalı. Yıllardır
sahadasınız. Bize sahanın ruhunu, sizi mesleğinize
bağlayan kilit noktaları paylaşır mısınız
Belirttiğiniz gibi, arkeoloji ve arkeolojinin en temel aracı
kazı, çok yoğun bir mesai gerektiren zor bir iş. Ama bu
zorluğuna karşın bir o kadar da heyecanlı. Arkeolojiye
ve kazıya ‘iş’ demek istemiyorum; çünkü, ona ‘iş’ diye
bakarsanız o zaman heyecanınız yok demektir. Bir de, bu iş
para karşılığı yapılabilecek bir iş değil. Zaten hiç bir zaman
da arkeoloji ,‘para getiren’ bir iş olmamıştır.
Bizim en önemli motivasyonumuz ‘merak’. Ama bu merak
geçici bir heves gibi, sadece ‘o an’ yaşanan bir
şey değil. Merak ettiğiniz şey; sizin akademik
anlamda kafanızı kurcalayan, çözümü için
yıllardır pek çok kişinin kafa yorduğu ve
halen çözülemeyen sorunların cevaplarıdır.
Hayalinizde hiçbir zaman altın, gümüş,
hazine gibi parasal bir buluntu yoktur. Tam
tersine, belki pahada para etmeyen, ama
küçük, belki topraktan, kilden bir buluntu
hayalinizi süsler. Onun içerdiği bilginin,
çözümlenemeyen birçok sorunu çözdüğünü
hayal edersiniz.
Kültepe, Kaniş Krallığı’nın merkezi ve
Asur Ticaret Kolonileri sisteminin Anadolu’daki başşehri
olarak biliniyor. Bugüne kadar arkeoloji dünyası için özel
önem taşıyan nelerle karşılaştınız; bulgular hangi müze ya
da müzelerde izlenebilir
Sistemli bilimsel Kültepe Kazıları , 1948 yılında rahmetli
hocamız Prof.Dr. Tahsin Özgüç tarafından başlatıldı. 2012
yılında 65. yılını tamamladık. Daha ilk mevsim kazılarından
bu yana keşfedilen buluntularıyla Kültepe Kazıları, tüm
bilim dünyası tarafından dikkatle takip edildi. Çünkü, ilk
buluntular dahi, o zamana kadar bilinmeyenleri ve cevapları
bulunamayan pek çok sorunu çözüyordu.
İlk yıllardan itibaren Kültepe’den keyşfedilen en önemli
buluntu grubunu, şimdilerde sayıları 23.500’ü geçen
çivi yazılı tabletler oluşturmaktadır. Bunlar Anadolu’nun
ilk yazılı belgeleri olup, Anadolu’nun ‘tarihi devirlere’
geçişini sağlıyordu. Bunların yanında ele geçen çok çok
özel buluntular da Anadolu arkeolojisinin temel taşlarını
oluşturmakta. Şöyle bir örnek vererek Kültepe’nin önemini

excavations I would like to state that you are bringing
to light a 4 to 5 thousand year old culture. Archeology is
prune to many surprises and is an exciting and strenuous
discipline. Could you share the spirit you feel on the field,
the motivational factors contributing to scientists
One should not see archeology as a source of income since it
is not an occupation to be done for money. It is not a routine
8 to 5 job either, thus those who have the aims to earn
money and work on a routine basis should not consider going
into archeology. Archeology and excavation is a hard and
intense occupation. But it is also exciting and intriguing. But
you should not look at it as ‘work’ because then all of it’s
excitement would fade away. I enjoy my occupation and my
most important motivational factor is ‘curiosity’.
But this curiosity is not an instant on the spot
thrill. What you wonder about academically is
the answers to the problems for which for many
years many people have been trying to solve.
There is never the will to find gold, silver,
treasure or material substance in mind. On the
contrary maybe a small piece of clay or artifact
found buried under the soil covers your dreams.
You dream of solving the many questions on
the minds of people who have dedicated their
lives to this occupation.
Kültepe is known as the center of the Kaniş
Kingdom and the capital city of the Assyrian Commercial
Colonies in Anatolia. Being a historical and commercial
kingdom it has been the center of excavation for more
than half a century. What have you encountered till
today in your excavations that are of great importance
for the world of archeology Where can we see these
findings In which museums are they exhibited
The systematic scientific Kültepe excavations started in 1948
by our deceased Prof. Dr. Tahsin Özgüç. In 2012 it reached
its 65th year. The findings and pieces obtained from these
excavations have been followed by the scientific vicinity in
great depth. Because even the first findings are able to answer
some of the unsolvable questions.
The 23.500 Cuneiform script tablets are the most important
findings found at Kültepe. These are the first written
documents of Anatolia dating from that period. In order to
understand the pre-historic Anatolian civilization you should
first analyze the findings from Kültepe. The same goes for
understanding the Central Asian, new Mesopotamian and
