Hopkins County <strong>Coal</strong> Market<br />

Florida was the largest single market <strong>for</strong> Hopkins County<br />

steam coal in 2012, followed by <strong>Kentucky</strong>. The Big Bend<br />

Power Plant located outside of Tampa, FL, itself received<br />

approximately 25 percent of 7.3 million tons shipped from<br />

Hopkins County during 2012. Combined, Florida and <strong>Kentucky</strong><br />

represented 78 percent of coal shipments from the<br />

county during the year. <strong>Coal</strong> from Hopkins County was also<br />

delivered to power plants in Tennessee, Alabama, and Ohio<br />

in 2012.<br />
