Associate of Applied Science Degree
527-7630
This partial transfer program is designed to prepare graduates to
work alongside licensed teachers as part of a teaching team. In this
capacity, they assist both teacher and student. The program provides
opportunities to develop personally and professionally, while acquiring
a sound philosophy of education.
Students will gain insights into creating learning situations and planning
instructional procedures that meet the needs of a diverse classroom
community. They will have the opportunity to work directly
with children during the field experience course.
Students in this program are required to complete and pass a security
background check in order to take the field experience course.
Past criminal violations may prevent a student from completing the
degree and from being hired by school systems or other child care
facilities upon graduation. Not all courses in this program may be
applied toward a degree at NMSU. Please see an Education adviser
for the current articulation plan.
