(UTP) students and other Unclassified students who choose
DACC as a place to begin their college career.
to a competitive admission program (Nursing, Radiologic
Technology, Dental Assistant, Diagnostic Medical Sonography,
When to Seek Academic Advising
New students will meet with their academic advisor and register for
classes as part of their DACC new student orientation.
Transfer and Readmitted students should make an appointment with
their academic advisor once their DACC admission is complete.
Continuing students should plan ahead and meet with their academic
advisor every semester well in advance of continuing student
registration.
Web registration
After being admitted and receiving academic advising, eligible students
may register for classes on the Web at my.NMSU.edu. For additional
information, refer to the current Schedule of Classes.
Upon completing online registration, a copy of the registration
document may be obtained at the DACC Registration counter, room
DAMA 115, or the NMSU Registrar’s Office.
The Web registration system will not accept requests for the S/U
grading option unless the course is offered exclusively on an S/U
basis. Likewise, the system will not accept requests for the Audit
grading option. To request S/U or Audit grading for courses, see your
academic advisor.
Students need to use their NMSU User ID and Password to access
Web registration through the my.NMSU.edu website. If a student
forgets their User ID and Password, the system will allow students to
reset it online, provided they answer a security question correctly. If
these attempts fail, students must consult with the ICT help desk in
roon 140 of the Computer Center, 646-1840.
Tuition and Fees
Application Fee
A one-time $15 application fee and a completed application must
be submitted to DACC. The fee, which is not refundable, is required
of students who have not previously enrolled at New Mexico State
University or one of its branch campuses.
Tuition and Mandatory Fees
Tuition, including mandatory fees, at DACC for academic year
2006-2007 are as follows: $47 pe r credit, or $564 per semester, for
residents of Doña Ana County; $57 per credit, or $684 per semester,
for residents of New Mexico coming from outside the county; and
$141 per credit, or $1,692 per semester, for nonresidents.
At NMSU, tuition with mandatory fees for academic year 2006-
2007 are as follows: $176.25 per credit ($2,115 per semester) for
residents, and $575.15 per credit ($6,901.80 per semester) for nonresidents.
When nonresidents enroll in six credits or fewer, however,
they pay the in-state rate of $176.25 per credit.
Per-semester costs for tuition and mandatory fees are calculated
by multiplying the number of credits by the appropriate per-credit
rate. Students taking between 12 and 18 credits are charged for only
12, provided that all credits are taken exclusively at either DACC or
NMSU. Then, beginning with the 19th credit hour, the per-credit
charge is again imposed. DACC and NMSU tuition and mandatory
fees are calculated independently of each other.
Resident, Nonresident Status
Resident or nonresident status shall be determined according to the
uniform definition set forth by the New Mexico Higher Education
Department. The NMSU Registrar’s Office administers residency.
Out-of-district information is available in room DAMA-116, DACC
Office of Admissions. Additional information is available at the
NMSU Registrar’s Office.
Members of the Armed Forces, their spouses and minor children,
not otherwise entitled to claim residency, are eligible for tuition payment
at the resident student rates upon presentation of certification
from their commanding officer of assignment to active duty within
New Mexico. Certification is required at the time of initial registration.
All enrolled members of the Navajo Tribe who reside on the Navajo
Reservation, as certified by the Navajo Department of Higher
Education, will be assessed in-state, out-of-district tuition rates at
all times.
Other Fees—Resident and Nonresident
Graduation Fee: Associate Degree $20
Graduation Fee: Certificate Programs $10
International Student Admission Fee $50
Payment of Charges
Payment of charges can be completed at the DACC Cashiers Office
(room DAMA-118) or the NMSU Business Office by paying in
full, arranging a deferred payment plan, processing a Financial Aid
Deferment, or providing proof of a third party payment agreement.
A student will be disenrolled from reserved courses if payment arrangements
are not made by the deadlines shown in the current
class schedule. Late registration fees will be assessed if payment
is not made by the date(s) indicated. (See “Penalties,” further on in
this section.)
Payments can be made by mail, web, telephone, or in person at the
Business Office. Cash, checks, money orders and limited types of
credit cards are accepted.
Students requesting a deferred payment plan arrangement must initially
pay ten percent of tuition charges, with the balance due in four
equal monthly installments within the semester. A carrying charge
of $3.50 per month will be assessed monthly for students using the
deferred payment plan. Any financial aid received must be paid toward
balances owed. Additional penalty charges may be assessed
for failure to make payments when due. DACC/NMSU reserves the
right to deny a deferred payment plan to any student who has a poor
credit rating or who has been negligent in making payments to the
institution for previous debts.
DACC/NMSU reserves the right to cancel the registration of any student
who fails to pay, when due, any indebtedness to the institution.
Academic credits, transcripts, and diplomas will be withheld until
all financial obligations are paid.
NOTE: Charges for short courses carrying credit are in addition to
those for regular courses. (For additional information on short courses,
see the “Academic Regulations” section.) Workshops, institutes,
