Rewards for tenants
AN INNOVATIVE way of
getting customer feedback
has been unveiled by Adactus
Housing Association.
The Adactus500 gives
tenants and leaseholders the
opportunity to take part in
consultation activities that
earn points which can be
exchanged for a variety of
rewards, from shopping
vouchers to leisure activities
or a credit on their rent
account.
Residents can, if they prefer,
convert their points into
charitable donations.
Suzannah Robinson,
resident involvement officer,
said: “The Adactus500 has

“Membership was
previously available to a
random selection of tenants
by invitation only and
following a comprehensive
review of the way we involve
residents in shaping and
improving our services, we
have decided to open–up the
Adactus500 to allow any
tenant or leaseholder to take
part.”
Any Adactus tenant not
subject to legal action can
now register for the
Adactus500.

Health chief welcomes
new boost to measles
vaccination campaign
SEFTON Director of Public Health, Dr Janet
Atherton, has welcomed the announcement
of a national programme to increase MMR
vaccination uptake in children and
teenagers as a boost to the recently
launched Sefton MMR campaign.
The national programme is in response to
the large outbreak in south Wales and new
figures which show that measles is at its
highest level in 18 years.

In 2012, there was a large outbreak of
measles across Merseyside with 71 Sefton
children affected. This year, measles cases
are continuing across the borough with 19
children confirmed already as having it.
Dr Janet Atherton said: “Measles is often
believed to be a disease of the past, and
people may be unaware that it is still
around.
“It is dangerous and can have serious
complications including pneumonia and
encephalitis or swelling of the brain.
“In severe cases, measles can kill. It can
also be very serious in pregnant women.
“Parents should ensure their children and
teenagers are fully protected against
measles, mumps and rubella with two doses
of the MMR vaccine.
“Children get the first dose of MMR at 13
months old and the second dose is offered to
children when they reach 3 years and 4
months.
“We recently launched a campaign in
Sefton to protect the borough’s children
and young people from the ongoing measles
outbreak. Children in primary schools who
need an MMR jab have been invited by their
GP to have their jab at the GP practice.
School nurses are visiting secondary school
to vaccinate children and teenagers who are
not fully vaccinated.”
An estimated 800 Sefton school–aged
children have been vaccinated over the last
month in the GP practices and schools.
There are still many more children and
young people who remain unvaccinated and
my strong advice to parents is to take
advantage of this opportunity to protect
your children.
