Lions given highest award<br />

CROSBY and District Lions Club<br />
have honoured lions Glen Alison<br />
and Tom Tyson with its highest<br />
award, the Melvin Jones<br />
Fellowship.<br />
The fellowship, which was created<br />
in 1973, takes its name <strong>from</strong> the<br />
founder of Lions Clubs<br />
International, Melvin Jones.<br />
The fellowship was established as<br />
Lions Clubs International<br />
Foundation’s highest <strong>for</strong>m of<br />
recognition to acknowledge an<br />
individual’s dedication to<br />
humanitarian service.<br />
It was presented at their 29th<br />
Charter Anniversary dinner<br />
recently held at the West<br />
Lancashire Golf Club.<br />
As Lions, Glen and Tom have<br />
served the Crosby community <strong>for</strong><br />
nearly 50 years between them.<br />
Glen is retired <strong>from</strong> lecturing at<br />
Lion David Winsland, Penny Thompson, Andrew Thompson Smith, Lion<br />
president Lynne Winsland, district governor Lion Meg Philp, Lion Mike<br />

Hugh Baird College and Tom is a<br />
retired policeman.<br />
They have both been closely<br />
involved in all Lions fundraising<br />
and service activities within the<br />
community.<br />
They received their badges and<br />
plaque <strong>from</strong> district governor Meg<br />

Thompson Smith, on behalf of the<br />
RNLI, also received a donation <strong>from</strong><br />
Crosby Lions.<br />
