CHILDREN from St Thomas
School in Lydiate were praised
for their win in this year’s
annual swimming gala.
The event which took place on
Friday, April 26 was
represented by nine schools
from Maghull and Crosby who
were all competing to gain
victory in both individual and
team relay events.
It was a closely fought
competition throughout the
morning but St Thomas Church
Code NA
and 6 children continued their
fantastic year of sport by
winning gold for the school.
This is the second time this
year the school have come in
first place in the pool, earlier in
the year the team won the year
5 swimming event. However
this is the first time the school
have ever won the overall
school competition in its
history.
Assistant head teacher Mark
Ward said: “This was a thrilling
morning for all the schools
involved and the children swam
their hearts out in the races.
The school are very proud of
their achievement.”
