MARINE should have gleaned some return<br />
<strong>from</strong> the match, but were again let down by<br />
missing some excellent chances.<br />
Town came close to opening the scoring early<br />
on, a free kick fro coming off a Marine head and<br />
back in to play via the bar, centre <strong>for</strong>ward Greg<br />
Smith pouncing on the rebound but seeing his<br />
shot smack against the post.<br />
Town had the wind at their backs in the<br />
second half and <strong>for</strong>ced a number of corners<br />
early on, and John Shaw had to clear a close<br />
range header off the line.<br />
Grantham took the lead on 69 minutes, a<br />
quick moveleading to a lofted cross into the<br />
area with Lewis heading in.<br />
Marine finished strongly, Jon Goulding<br />
having their best chance but his header hit the<br />
bar <strong>from</strong> Michael Ordish’s free kick.<br />

MARINE are looking <strong>for</strong> a new<br />
manager after Kevin Lynch<br />
stepped down this week.<br />
The 38–year–old, who saw a<br />
consistent level of success at the<br />
Arriva Stadium including a<br />
memorable FA Cup run, handed<br />
in his notice at a meeting on<br />
Sunday with chairman Paul<br />
Leary.<br />
His last game in charge of the<br />
Mariners will be the final league<br />
game this coming Saturday away<br />
at Ilkeston Town.<br />
Marine manager Kevin Lynch<br />
said: “This is a real sad day <strong>for</strong> me<br />
but I feel it’s the right time <strong>for</strong> me<br />
and the club to call it a day.<br />
Reserve team to be scrapped to focus on youth<br />
MARINE have scrapped<br />
its reserve team that has<br />
been running <strong>for</strong> over<br />
100 years in order to<br />
focus on youth devel–<br />
opment up to the Under<br />
18s age group.<br />

season the Marine Youth<br />
team, members of the<br />
North West Youth<br />
Alliance, will play its<br />
Sunday <strong>home</strong> league<br />
games at the Arriva<br />
stadium.<br />

committee at Marine.”<br />
Marine are now looking to<br />
recruit a new qualified manager<br />
with the experience.<br />

parting is completely amicable.<br />
“I thank Kevin <strong>for</strong> the work he<br />
has put in at Marine in the last<br />
four seasons.<br />
“He has a real desire to succeed<br />
as a football manager and I wish<br />
him well <strong>for</strong> the future.”<br />
